I posted this coin last month when I found it. I sent it off for grading and would like to see your grade opinions. It might take a while before I can post the assigned grade, as it was sent off to NGC this week.

I say VF30, but admit its been a while since I graded these.

Pretty coin, but I think any kind of EF, (even the special EF50), is too high.

NGC posted the grade today......EX40. Im pretty happy with the grade.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

I'd be happy with that grade too, if I owned or were selling the coin, but not so much if I were a buyer. ;)

    Congrats on your grade.

FWIW, I would have guessed 30.

XF-50 would certainly be VERY high.

Also sent in for grading + variety were 2 1873 Double liberty IHCs that they did not designate as the S-1 double liberty.

This kind of made me mad as I know they are the variety. I called to get an explanation, but was told they have to have 2 letters in liberty visible. I challenged that claim as they have graded AG coins to this variety. It went no where.

I did get a VG8 on a 1865 Fancy 5, DDR, which is extremely rare though.
VF details Rev scratched on an 1854 O $3 Gold
VF30 on a 1814 Single leaf reverse half dollar
