I do not want to sound like a plug, and I have no affiliation with this company. However, I was reading Great Collection's fees. 0% for coins over $1000 5% for coins under $1000. So if you put list a coin on eBay with a starting price of $200, and it sells for $1200.. Your total fees with feebay and paypain would be $146.29, fee percentage 12.19 percent. Or, consign it to GC, and your fee would be 0%. Just an idea to folks wanting more for their coins. You do have to wait longer to get paid, but the benefit of low fees is nice.
Right, but the house keeps the buyers premium - which most people factor into the amount they bid. So it the total price (hammer + juice) is $1200, you would net $1080.
Hammer price $1200, plus 15% buyers premium $180, equals $1380. Seller still nets $1200, GC gets $180.
It's a gamble as far as I'm concerned. The audience is certainly many many x's larger on eBay, bringing heated bidding and driving up the hammer price. I suppose it all depends on the coin, and how sought after it is.
A ten percent buyers premium is not bad compared to what is becoming the norm in the auction business - 17.5% is not that uncommon and some of the British auction houses are hovering to 25% now. That tells me they are getting a bit top-heavy and might sway buyers away with those fees.
BPs? You know he doesn't think nor care about no stinkin' BPs. In my experience, Ian is a very friendly and helpful gentleman, but it all depends on what you're looking to sell. They seem to do well with certain coins, while with others, a larger house might be preferable. I am quite sure "pain" pretty much sums up how they feel about you too.
I guess I really look at buyers premiums as a fee to the seller more so than the buyer because if someone is willing to pay $1200 their bid on Ebay is gonna be $1200 whereas the same person on GC is gonna back off his bid to account for the bp - say $1080 or so to make the same $1200 total. Or maybe I have this all wrong.
Totally agree, there really is no such thing as a BP. It is all a shell game and the seller takes it on the chin no matter what you call it.
When did ebay start getting 12% I know they do but when I used to sell my magnetos they were from $110.00 up to $179.00 and I do not ever remember paying more than like 6 or 7 bucks a listing to them now it would be closer to $20.00 right WHY!! PayPal still get.29 cents plus 2.9 Right?
Sure you are, because you technically got banned from using Paypal so you are very limited with using eBay now. Or someone who is bitter now because they can't use a service so they're looking for any alternatives that they can find and trying to point out everything negative about the company that just kicked him to the curb.
Insertion Fee Final Value Fee Final Value Fee on shipping (yes, they charge a fee on something you don't even keep) Paypal Fee Some eBayers still don't know that eBay has implemented the 9% fee on shipping. It's really stupid. It caused a lot of sellers to raise their shipping costs 9%.
If you are selling a $50 coin it is a $5 listing fee plus 5% of sale fee. After the buy premium of 10% you are losing around 30%.
