It does not make the value of the quarter $5.00.

How many would he sell if the price for the coin was $3.95 with $1.45 shipping?

No, mintage, condition and demand matter - they are real and the basis of collectable values. Hype created rediculous prices for "condition rare" high mintage coins.

Everyone (well most) considers the total cost.

I'm going to stop replying if you keep coming up with comparisons you know to be erroneous. You know dollars don't circulate and quarters do.

Statehood quarters? Statehood quarters? You're comparing apples to oranges aren't you? LOL!

These are almost all sold out. And the el yunque rolls are selling for huge markup on eBay. Like $70-90/roll.

Yes there is a big hype going on and those fortunate enough to have purchased multiple rolls would probably do well to unload most of them now and then pick them up in a few years at a cheaper price should they really want those rolls in their collection.

The hype is being fed to those that fear they will miss out on something that will keep going up in price for years to come.

I just do not see it.

Maybe. I'm surprised how few ads for these rolls are on eBay, but we'll see if they explode over the next week. If not, maybe collectors are holding them, which can't be bad for the value.

I've got a hunch that paying $9.00 over face value of the roll is a safe bet. They are going to mint millions more this year and for the years to come, I wouldn't be supprised if they don't start making them for actual circulation at one point or another. Not to mention the fact that times are hard as heck for most Americans as well as the rest of the world. Therefore it is a buyers market, and for the long term investor, a wise time to invest in all rarities. There will be many more new collectors coming to play in the next 10 -20 years, they will probably be in China, but what the heck right! If nothing else I'll be stocked up for some serious pinball playing in my retirement.

Exactly, very little down side risk and very little invested for a large quantity of coins.
