six rolls of CW Pennies with my six year old boy last night... 38 copper, but nothing else of interest.
My most disappointing "find" lately is that here in the Albuquerque area, the last Credit Union that offered free use of their coin counting (dump) machines has now tacked a 3% fee on - even for members. So my days of mass searching and dumping the junk into a machine are done.... it's far more tedious to have to re-roll them all by hand!
There's no way I'm paying 3% to put them through the machine - that is in addition to the small amound the machine always shorted me when I used it...

I know...right? I pulled the 1st one and said "Sweet...my 1st silver quarter and only having searched about $1200 worth" Then the 2nd came along and then the 3rd...Needless to say I was ecstatic and shocked that not only did I pull my 1st from this box, but my 2nd and 3rd as well. I was stoked! Thank you!!! :)

Had to scrape and claw, but I managed to get $250 in dimes to search tonight so I can complete my bag of $1000 in dimes for dumping tomorrow. Love having to spend money to buy more coin just so I can dump.

I really like hockey, but my wife is the rabid screaming fan at fights, whoops I mean hockey. We do a lot of OHL/CHL league games. She is a supervisor of some 45 or so employees, and she likes to picture the disobedient ones getting clocked into the boards.

Back on topic, so far today one box of nickels and found a '44-P, box of dimes a 1957-D, and a 1963. Have another box of nickels to go.

I haven't searched many quarters because I never find much usually, so far in the past few months only one 1964. Halves, dimes and nickels are far better.

Nickels have become my new favorite. I always seem to get a couple of Wars, and its nice geting a Buffalo and in rare cases a Liberty as well. Best thing about Nickels is that its not just the silver that are fun finds unlike dimes and quarters where its just silver.

In the past year I have gotten a dozen or so Libs from 1890-1912, and maybe 80 or so Buffalos, including a couple of 1913s that I only know are that date because of the mound. I have hundreds of War nickels. I love finding silver, it is so flipping addictive.

Is there such thing as a "lowball" dime. I mean this thing I found is as thing as a sheet of paper and looks like it's been someone's pocket piece for the last 30 years. I'll post up a picture later.

Yes, I found a 1977 in my roll search yesterday that had way more wear than one would expect - and I have a 1990s dated quarter the teller in the bank gave me that looks like it was worn out in a machine or something.

Ahhhhh...Nickels, my favorite as well. I get such a thrill finding buffalo's and liberties (found only 1 V on New Years day and my heart skipped a beat...planning to find even more before the year end)

...seeing that gleam of white makes me want to search more and more and more...as you said flipping addictive!!! I can't stop! :)

Pulled my first Liberty about a week ago, saw the V right away and couldn't believe it.

I keep finding 1939's 40's 41's then 46 and up!! WTH I found a few errors the other day but I have gone through about 300.00 in nickles and no silver depressing. Are all silver nickles minted with the big mint mark on the reverse top?

On the reverse top (above the Monticello...image below pulled from the Net)...If you keep looking, they will come! I went through 21 boxes recently because I was concentrating just on Nickels...3 boxes in a row were skunks as well and I was getting discouraged, but never lost hope. The next few boxes produced several wars and buffalo's...keep searchin' and good luck!

You know I remember reading this thread a few years ago and reading of people finding Indians and Liberties, and I was not quite believing. I have found a total of 6 IHC's, four of them in one search during the summer of 2011. The earliest cent is an 1889, the earliest Lib is a well worn 1890. I even find nicer Buffs in CWR, but I live in an area with an older population.

The last box produced a 1939 and a 1945-S and several dozen forties and fifties.

Did the S mean the same back then as it does now? Because I found some S cents maybe a 1970 pr 71 S nickle?? But I thought it did not mean anything untill like 76 or 82 or something.

There were no War proofs so no it didn't mean the same thing as it does now.

I believe a few proof war nickels were minted.

    6 boxes of halves, 4 40% and a '64.
