Anybody have any clue about this dime? I noticed a double nose and chin. Also extra metal around the face and neck extending down to the date and artist's initials. IMAG0056.jpg IMAG0053.jpg IMAG0052.jpg IMAG0051.jpg IMAG0050.jpg

Interesting coin. I guess if we can have the "Bugs Bunny" Franklin half, we can have a "Pinocchio" Roosevelt! Looking forward to others' input...

Definite doubling, however, I am having difficulty determining whether MD or die doubling.

Thats weird I found a 92P nickle today with the same doubling, But mine is hard to see its weird? Almost like a weak strike but the front parts of his head and nose are doubles

Also the neck line has almost a burr.

Could just be extreme die deterioration, not 100% sure.

Then what could explain the doubling of the chin and nose and bulging of the metal surrounding the coin? i also just noticed the rim strike error. Other than the errors, the coin is in good condition as far as wear and deterioration. Thanks for the info.

non cents, i have a question for you, i have a 1864 small motto 2 cents piece, and the reverse is stamped the same way the obverse is, or 180 degree off, i think ! i'll show some pictures on a quick reply !

Die deterioration doubling can have crazy effects. It may or may not be the culprit for this coin, but I can assure you with 99% certainty that it is not a doubled die.

And Rick...it is best to not hijack another person's thread. Although it belongs in a different thread, I will answer anyway. It appears your coin has a rotated die error.

You should have the ability to start a thread on your own. You don't have to post on one already started.
The 1916 cent you have has an improper alloy mix error.
