Should the US make fractional ASE's?

  1. YES!

    39.1%
  2. NO!

    47.8%
  3. Who cares? This is 'MURICA

    13.0%
  1. I voted yes but would probably not buy them. I prefer the larger size silver coins but someone else might appreciate them. TC

Heck Chris, I couldn't afford a one oz. hunk of gold a few years back so I opted for the next best thing.........1/10 oz. I wasn't interested in the investment factor, I just wanted a nice example of the design and the fractional piece was within my budget. I think fractional silver pieces would allow more YN's, and collectors of limited means, to get in on picking up some silver that isn't in the form of 'junk'.

I agree, and that was my point sir. A 2013 ASE is like $35, maybe someone wants to give someone a 2013 ASE as a birthday present or something, but that is just too much money for them. I have no issue with the mint making quarter ounce ASE that someone can afford. YES, "per ounce" it would be more expensive, but a WHOLE LOT of people DO NOT CARE. They wish to buy a certain coin with a certain date for X amount of dollars.

Will I buy them? Heck no. I don't buy fractional AGE's either, preferring to minimize the premium per ounce and buying one ounce pieces, but where I am at is not where everyone is, and everyone starts somewhere, you know?

Well you don't run the mint do you? It doesn't matter what any of our opinions are. I'm sure according to you the Mint should make a 1/100th oz age, maybe 1/200th oz american gold eagles so everyone and their grandmother can buy one??

There are many many many options for fractional silver, but yet its an injustice if the mint doesn't want to compete with all these other places that are already making fractional silver?

There are 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz .999 silver coins out there. You have 90% silver dimes, quarters, halfs. A silver dime is about 1/14th an oz of silver, they also have 1 gram .999 silver bars that is 1/31.1 oz of silver. There are many options out there, my point is that its ridiculous to cry injustice!!! because the U.S. mint has no interest (that i know of) in producing fractional silver eagles.

I just thought it was funny how you worded your post, it seemed like you believe the public is entitled to fractional silver. I may of mis-understood though.

Oh how sad it is that that the Brits initially made that continent a penal colony. Guess they're still at it? :)

I said yes for one reason: the mint might bring in some real artists for it's creation. If that don't come with the coin, then who cares, this is 'Murica.

Have you read the fad there is to be able to trace your ancestry back to particular criminals? The worst the criminal ancestor the more prestigious the lineage. :(

I want to see them mint a 10oz version. Like the Perth mint does for some of their issues. I have a 8oz version but it isn't done the US Mint and could be a little nicer.
