Got my first ever box of halves in today after the bank error the other day. They discounted it for my trouble.

    Results:

    1 measley 40% ('68)
    2 uncirculated 2005 p
    1 uncirculated 2006 p
    and 1 overfilled roll

7 of the coins had the last two numbers in the year grinded off....(all from different rolls)
quite a few rolls also had coins with red sharpie dots on the center of kennedys face.

looks like i'm getting recirculated dumps.

Every box you order will be like that... It's all about scoring the boxes where a collection was also dumped in. That's why those of us who do high volume get better boxes... because we are greatly increasing our chances of scoring those great boxes. Example about 4 posts up, lol.

I had to basically beg, borrow, and steal to get "6" halves from 6 banks over the weekend, none of which were silver. To say I am jealous is an understatement.

I've put a lot of work in, man. Grind, grind, grind and you'll eventually hit a jackpot. Nobody said this hobby is easy. :) This is my second dream box. The other was 99 40% and a '64.

    My favorite inspirational quote...

"I will do what you won't do today, to do what you can't do tomorrow."

I've said that to myself every single morning while standing in front of the mirror for the past 6 months and in that time, I've lost 40 pounds, I work out a ton more, I eat better, and I rarely ever take breaks from doing some kind of work. I'd say of my 18 waking hours a day (I only sleep 6hrs a night) I spend 16 of them doing some kind of work, be that roll searching, bank hopping, cherrypicking at dealers, or my day job. I don't give myself much time at all to relax except on my time set aside specifically for that... Every other Friday night, and every other Sunday.

Three boxes of halves: Nothing but a decent-sized clip on a '72:
    1972 half clip obv.jpg
    1972 half clip rev.jpg

$40 CWR halves: Two 40%, four Franklins, and a surprise to start off the new year! It's a 1936 50 centimes from French Indochina (colonial Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos). It looks like it's been cleaned, but it's still 13.5 grams of .900 silver! That's more than a 90% US half!

BTW, the three Franklins on the right are coated in a chalky white residue with small black spots that look like mold. Should I be worried about it?

I think you can make money on those if they are gem uncirculated solid rolls should be able to unload on ebay for a decent profit
check out the completed sales of 1999 half dollar rolls on ebay not to bad on some of the auctions

That French Indochina coin is cool as anything. Am I becoming a dark sider fan now? Haha.

I wouldn't worry about the black stuff, if you are really concerned about it, get some acetone and let 'em soak in there for a day or two (Cover the acetone so it doesn't evaporate) and if it is mold, it should be dead. I'd be surprised to see mold growing on silver, though, because silver is a natural antibacterial substance.

JJDEMARAY (I think that's his username) has found a '14-D before, I think he called it a VF. Sold it to his dad or something.

Someone found an authenticated 1909S VDB in February of last year: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/c...ly-grail-cents-1909-s-vdb-updated-photos.html Finds like these are once-in-a-lifetime occurences and it should be noted the person who found this 1909S VDB has searched millions of cents over some 40 years. With that kind of time, patience and volume I think he was due to find a coin like this, lol.
