I collected coins for 40+ years before there was an eBay, so I would adapt. There are a number of other venues for coin auctions.

In some ways, it would be great ~ no more posts about scammers, people to remove or out for some reason, problems about lost or damaged coins, complaints that the coin was not as expected from horrible photos, unsearched rolls with silver dimes or IHC on both ends of lincoln rolls, damage coins at $1,999,999, etc.

On the other side, I ( opinion) feel that the strong collector market ( and pricing) , only exists because of eBay. I haven't bought a coin off of eBay in a couple of years, but have bought other items weekly and would miss it.

I would put it almost at the bottom of a "Things to worry about " list as fools are being created every minute ( not you or me of course :))

I need food, water and shelter to survive, so yeah, I can live if everything on the planet that doesn't provide me those 3 things just vanished.

I don't see them going bankrupt while charging 10-13% final value fees.

Right, more like getting even more wealthy with those fees.

I hate Ebay immensely due to the ridiculous fee increases over the last 10+ yrs, but I still tend to make more there than I do on Craigslist, so... I'd jump ship in a heartbeat if a better option came along, but for now.. I am grudgingly a loyal costumer and would miss it.

There was a time we didn't have cell phones either, and we survived.

Sounds like something from the Dark Tower series.

Back on track...I would miss eBay. I've found some really obscure items on eBay that I probably would never have found otherwise or very easily. I also like to watch things to see what they sell for.

Then again... When I left AOL in the 90's, I missed it for all of 2 wks before coming to the realization that I was a flipping FOOL to have signed up with them to begin with. I change my mind. I could live without it. For all I know, there's already a better option that I just haven't taken the time to locate! :)

You know I could see paying $50 for a ounce of silver if it was beautiful. $80 for a proof is really stretching things, but over $100 for a proof coin?

Sounds like when I left facebook, but I never felt like I ever needed the site and I am very happy I no longer have an account.

    It depends upon the coin.

My wife uses my facebook account. I haven't looked at that garbage in over a year. I guess I never realized how antisocial I was until the "new social" came along. No, I don't care about your cat, your son, or your loser father in law........
