eBay sales should be taken as anomolies and not gospel since gospel means "always" yet eBay sales will not last at these levels.

My advice to those considering selling while the privce is high to go ahwad and grab your $50 profit (minus ebay and paypals chares) before the wave ends on these. It could very well be a quick wave in a shallow pool.

I'd also advise any newbie lurkers out there from even considering purchasing a roll of these for these $60 and $70 prices which are showing up. You'll only regret it within 6 months when the next one sells out.

For a point of reference, more Statehood Quarters have gone back to the bank after huge sums were paid for them than they would ever have been worth as once the coins leave the limelight, they never return unless someone happens to finds a really huge variety.

    Absolutely no way.

Right, "so they are concentrated in very few hands", unlike the 1996w [which was sold in mint sets and more widely distributed].

    Never say never.

I'm smelling a "hype" machine in action here folks. :D

You're comparing SQ's with an average mintage of around 500m to s El Yunques with a 1.6m mintage? I don't understand.

Nah, coins with potential hype themselves.

    Here's what they'll sell for:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-S-Park...47?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2c6980415f

    From now until whenever.

However, a roll price, especially a sealed roll price, would never reflect individual coin sales since individual sales are sporadic at best.

Sorry, hate to seem like I'm picking on you but the reality is that there are simply NO unique factors regarding modern coinage that will sustain a high price. All eventually end up with a value of a little more than face and every seasoned collector and dealer is well aware of this fact.

Just because a few folks pay moon money for a roll of quarters does not in any way mean that that very same roll will hold that value. Historical figures say that it will not and a $75 roll of ATB El Yunque Quarters will eventually be worth $12.50 regardless of mintage or availability.

    Thats reality.

Anything else is nothing more than hype designed specifically to sell inventory to let the buyers "take the losses" over the long haul.

If any lurkers out there believe otherwise then they're in for a rude financial awakening.

You do not know that. There are many years where dealers buy these in bulk and with the special issue 1996W, I see no reason that dealers would not have done this.

I hope you are correct as I wish to purchase one (but since PCGS are tough on this coin you are probably wrong)

WOW, where can I get one of your crystal balls?

Your own links shows them selling for over $5 with shipping.

True, roll values will be somewhat less than the sum of the parts, but still determined by them.

    Obviously, you don't understand.

    Mintage does not matter.

Especially for collector coins which is what the S Mints are. They are ONLY sold to collectors therefore, only collectors have them. Once the collectors have them, they no longer want nor need them. There is no attrition. That 1.6 million mintage is static with only a certain percentage grading MS68. Once the high grade demand is satisfied, nobody ever "looks back" as they walk away from them.

As for raw coins in a roll, the rolls are only purchased by those looking for a high grade and when grading costs exceed resale value, the submissions stop.

    You really believe that?

Sure, dealers buy in quantity, but the only way to get the S-Mints was rolls and bags. So again, you really believe that?

$3.95 is that sellers flat shipping rate whether you're buying a quarter of a dollar.

Besides, shipping rates don't add value and no, the value of the roll is not determined by the sum of its parts. Its determined by how much someone is willing to pay for it. Once the realization sets in that the current market is out of line with reality, the buying will then stop.

Or, when the next "big thing" from the US Mint rolls around.

Again, my advice is that if folks are considering selling, then they should sell now as the prices will not be going up or be sustained.

If you believe that they will, then I have a 1999 Silver SH Quarter Set (mintage 804, 565) I'll let you have for $475.

Mintage doesn't matter??? LOL, oh right, you're a condition rarity guy? Feel sorry for some of those guys.

Another possible scenerio is, when they ATB's start to circulated and catch on as a collectable, the low mintage ones will command significant premiums.

    Yes. I do.

I also believe that there is a tremendous hype machine in the works here based solely upon "mintage" and a few random eBay sales.

    Right.

And the same thing is true for the Presidential Dollars.

When they begin to circulate, interest will quadruple!

Oh yeah, and silver will be $500 an ounce!

So, how many do you think are buying multiples from that ad? Most are probably buying one.
