Someone consigned a MS68 ASE with bullseye toning for $575. http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=3408&lot=1734
Whatta rip. If it sells, a fool and his money will soon be parted........... [edit] Less than a minute left in the auction and nary a nibble.
$575? hmm That's the type of coin I would normally just pass by. I wish this buy the best of luck getting it to sell near that price.
Gee , it didn't sell . I wonder why . Teletrade is raising their buyers premium to 17.5 and forgoing the sellers fee . I have a feeling there will be a lot more ridiculous asking prices in the future .
I'd give 'em $30. That toning is terrible, looks like it got dropped in the toliet. I got this one (same date and grade) for less than $20 a long time ago. .
I think we'll just see an overall shift in prices. Buyers will be more aware of the fees, and bid accordingly. I predict opening bids to start getting lower and lower over time.
Yes it is, but really it will affect the seller. Most buyers will just adjust their bids lower to compensate for the fees, and so the seller will get less for their coin.
Sheesh...a guy at a local show in November had literally a half dozen of these PCI eagles with similar toning patterns (as mentioned they are common). In my opinion the toning on most of those was way better than this one, being a much more fiery orange, and they were going for $50. Well, they weren't really "going" anywhere cause I went there 2 days later (a three-day show) and they were still there.
I thought that with the new rules at Teletrade that they had to "approve" future offerings which might have precluded this silly offering?
I sold 5 of these earlier this year on E-Bay. They all sold for $150-$200 and they flew off the shelf. The toning quality was more rainbow than the orange-yellow on that TT example. Here is a photo of one of them.
