Why would you think the sale of the SF Mint business strikes were for one year? Since 2013 is just around the corner, the Mint doesn't have to continue offering anything produced in 2012 into the new year. Congress empowers the Mint to make such coins, but it doesn't tell them when to stop selling them.

When the "S" program started, that was the announcment that was made.

Read again! It doesn't say anything about selling them for a full year.........

The United States Mint will accept and fulfill orders beginning June 21[SUP]st[/SUP], 2012, at noon (ET). The El Yunque National Forest quarter bags and rolls will be available for one year after this date. To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.

How can these be sold out at the mint?

You'd think they would put all of this information in one place, but how does this account for the item being "SOLD OUT"?

The 2012 "S" rolls are still up except for the El Yunque, it is sold out.

They "are" available for 1 year.....unless they sell out...:D

That makes my morning. I'm sitting on 1 roll of each, out of box, but still rolled. I hope I can resist opening those up to look for gems. If the prices come back to earth later maybe I'll release some into the wild

Thanks Rick! I read somewhere else that the 1 year schedule would be according to demand as well.

The US Mint are endlessly frustrating. This is just on small example. They simply have no problem at all just lying.

Anyone see the final mintage? The last report I saw had them at 1,680,140.

  16. The El Yunque S ATB quarter roll reminds me a lot of the William Henry Harrison P and D presidential dollar rolls that also unexpectedly sold out at the US Mint. These rolls immediately commanded a premium and still do on eBay. However, I was told by a dealer friend of mine that if you keep these clad coins in their mint paper rolls for too long they often become harshly toned. He told me that he had a good number of SQ rolls reduced to face value by keeping them in their mint paper too long. These mint rolls do not seem to be suitable for long term hoarding. These S quarters are readily available for purchase at B&M stores, online and at shows at just a slight premium over mint issue. Why spend extra money for the paper wrapping that will likely adversely effect the coin? Unless you are a flipper, seems better to set them free. TC

The latest sale for 1 roll on eBay was yesterday for $63.50.

Just got an e-mail, now hey are supposed to ship on 1/15. Maybe they will do a rush job and screw up... maybe leave the mint mark off :D

So, what do you all think? Are these individual coins going to sell for about the same as the 1996w dime (between $10 to $20 and higher for high grades), making a roll worth $400 to $800?

If they're not 68's, forget it.

    I don't know, doesn't just a common low grade 1996w dime sell for $10 to $20 and up into the $100's for a 67 or 68?
