Are you asking or making a statement? It is clearly not the "big one", and a better photo is needed to tell much of anything else. It does look as though it may be what some refer to as the "poor man's" doubled die, which is actually die deterioration and not a doubled die at all (IIRC - someone please correct me if wrong).
Ok, what are you using to say it is a DDO? It has no signs of Die #1, or 2, or even #3 or #4 as listed by Crawford. I only see the apparent "doubling' of the last "5" which is die deterioration. IMO.
What you have is often referred to as the "poor man's doubled die", that's the appearance of a doubled second "5".
No, Richy... this is incorrect. Look at the photo posted by chiefbullsit and compare it to the provided image of your coin. It can easily be seen that your specimen is not the "big one". However, and as I mentioned in my previous post, there are lesser doubled dies known for the 1955-P, but your photo (at least to my eyes) is not clear enough to determine anything beyond what I said before. What can be seen is the "doubling" on the second 5, but it is not hub doubling. This is a form of die deterioration doubling. Such coins are rather plentiful and commonly referred to as the "poor man's doubled die" even though they are, in fact, not a doubled die at all. If you search ebay, it is highly likely that you will find at least a few examples being offered as such. It is my personal belief that these coins are not premium worthy. I would much enjoy being able to congratulate you on an excellent find, but it is more important to be honest. When looking for varieties, one needs to see what is actually there and be careful to avoid seeing what they want to. Thank you, sir.
I don't know what you are asking, but I can tell you without question that you don't have an image of the well known, expensive 1955 DDO in the first post of this thread.
if you no anything on some of them I hope I find something my bill's are past do ,,,,,, i'm just looking and hoping I find a good one
I think if you read Richy's posts backwards, I think it will shed more light on what he's talking about.
