Heck for the prices they're selling for I don't much care, besides the reverse is nice. Still, better looking than a Susan B. Anthony. http://www.ioffer.com/i/2008-ron-paul-norfed-liberty-dollar-silver-bullion-1-to-169991065
The NORFED one's price skyrocketed, the ones after that with the flag can still be had for about double spot.
Yea so crazy, it's not like gold and silver weren't money over the preceding 6,000 years or so All he wanted was for gold and silver to be given a fair shake at being a currency, along with the U.S. dollar and let the best currency win by choice of the public. I.e. no taxes on gold and silver as they are money, people aren't taxed on U.S. dollars if they increase in value (granted the U.S. dollar is such a colossal failure it rarely if ever does gain in value)
And now wasnt there a big article stating that Gold=Money, after the US screamed for years and years and that gold and silver were NOT money
Thank god he is not around, we don't need another dictator who ruined the economy and still had the gall to run for a third term.
the mega-banks control the government now, and its in their best interest to keep a paper money that they can print and manipulate at will. That is why the government gets so worried when people start talking about gold and silver as money, and why Ron Paul was either ignored or attacked by the mainstream media. (even fox news, run by republicans his own party attacked him mercilessly)
I agree with everything you stated and I see it for what it is, but I just caught snippets of this thread: http://www.cointalk.com/t219325/ and was saying that wasnt there a big thing recently to where gold was being looked at as money again. Im not up to speed on all the jargon and what not, but i figured this had something to do with RP's message of sound money
FALSE. The market (avg sale price) for Norfeds has collapsed; that means PRICES FALL. What anyone's BIN price might be is irrelevant; just because someone asks $10,000 for something doesn't make it worth that. hth The sale of "Ron Paul" Norfeds did NOT {materially: edit} "help him" in any way; Norfed has nothing to do with Ron Paul, their products did not fund the Paul campaign in any way (as the Ron Paul Campaign stated, repeatedly.) Also, the most recent "Ron Paul" Norfed coinage predates the 2012 election cycle ...by 4 years LOL. No connection there, either: Mutt Whatsisface didn't worry about the sale of old Ron Paul Coppers, chief. p.s. If you buy an old Rolling Stones album at a random yard sale, Mick Jagger doesn't "{materially: edit} benefit" either. Thinking otherwise is a very serious misunderstanding of reality. Just sayin'!
Bad example, because Mick Jagger DOES benefit personally, maybe not in the direct way you are implying, but because that person bought that album, they may have become fans and bought the next new one, or went to a show, or inspired the person seeing them buy that album to go out and re-listen to the Stones. Its called a residual effect and is very real. People are inspired indirectly all the time. First part of your response is true though, it doesnt matter what someone asks, it matter what someone is willing to pay. I didnt want you to think i was attacking you, and I did see and agree with part of your message.
treylxapi47- They may... or may not. Ancillary (or tertiary?) effects notwithstanding, your example is hypothetical. That's needlessly digressive. ASCAP royalties (the only direct benefit from album sales) aren't paid on resale, I think you know. Strictly speaking (as I and the OP were) there's ZERO direct benefit to Jagger/Paul from the sale itself. Exceptions? Here's one scenario - but these Norfeds didn't benefit Ron Paul either. http://www.independentpoliticalrepo...-ron-paulnorfed-coins-as-fundraiser-premiums/ The OP might have been confused by this (2007) - suppose the Paul campaign had to surrender that ill-gotten money, too. http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=17378 To the point: Looking at fmtaxguy1's profile, the last Norfed Silver 1 ozt round he sold was on Aug-27-12 21:10 for USD $141.50. I'd suggest this Seller is a very poor representative of the 1 ozt market if he's sold nothing since then. fmtaxguy1 sold a Norfed 1 ozt Silver round (Mintage ~3,000) for US $675.00 on May 18th, 2012 (approximately, the last Norfed Market Peak.) See feeBay 1998 NORFED Shelter System Silver Round - Scarce 1st Issue - 1 Oz .999 Silver (#330732315220) 10/11/2011 Norfed Scarce Shelter 1998 Proof Bullion Silver 1 oz .999 US $350.03 07/13/2011 *SCARCE* 1998 NORFED Liberty "Shelter System" 1oz round (#120749215834) US $750.00 ~05/03/2011 Rare Norfed Shelter House Silver 10 Dollar Coin (2 sold) US $430.60, US $436.82 That erratic price for a Norfed rarity is probably typical, but others are undoubtedly trading in exceedingly thin (dangerous) black markets now. Very poor spec, these rare coins are a terrible gamble as investments IMO: the race-to-scrap will wipe out any imaginary 'value' here. Fools rush in, caveat emptor, etc., etc.
I knew you couldn't stay away from some more NORFED bashing Juan . LOL! - But there are many Ron Paul rounds that have nothing to do with NotHaus.
Oh trust me I understand the 'implied' question that was asked, but he also never specified whether 'sales directly from Norfed Dollars with a Ron Paul theme specifically benefited Paul's campaign', so the question is wide open for interpretation, and like i previously mentioned to another poster, this day and age you CANNOT deal in absolutes, its pointless simply because everything is changing all the time. I seen how the question could be taken either way, and because of the wording of the OP we are both right in our understanding and intent. I just like to take time and point out how useless absolution is for the most part. Its just like grading a coin, there will always be disagreements because its subjective unless you follow a concrete formula method, and even then there are still variations, exceptions, etc...
Oh and for the record I own no Norfeds and never really cared either way what happened to them, although I do believe the government did go over board to protect themselves in this matter and to demonize someone trying to help the people of this country by stimulating competition and providing an alternative means of paying for things.
John14- I have nothing against Norfed collectors, but it's folly to rearrange the deck chairs on that Titanic. Whenever someone mentions "prices" or "value" that's the TOPIC, in fact, and fair-game. Norfeds & Bernard von Nothaus were mentioned in the OP, so I presume THAT is what's discussed - not the rain in Spain LOL You're otherwise correct - someone made some other Ron Paul coins. Do you have the story on those? I only saw the Paul Campaign's statement they didn't benefit from the sale of those coins. I have NO IDEA if Rep. Paul's campaign received any direct benefit money/rounds from this issue by Provident - do you have the story? http://ronpaulsilver.com/
