Looks like the real deal to me, unless you have reasons to suspect that it's not. Nothing which suggests forgery there.
thank you I got it from silbury coins. im new to colleckting and no i have no reason other than it just looks very nice, weight 1,15 gram diameter 17,8 mm
I think it is quite OK. Silbury is a trustworthy dealer and sometimes you'd better choose dealers rather than coins. BTW, it is a nice coin and I like it!
its eagelfer or ægelferd from norwich. york coins sold one like it but with a slight different obverse one just like mine on this site http://www.englishhammered.com/cnut/cnut03.html
Looks nice quality to me. Depends what you paid.I wish I had filled my boots up when a hoard was being sold at £50 to £80 each a few years back. You will pay at least 5x that now.
just a word of warning ashmores fakes were so good some of them are still in the trade today a friend of mine uncovered one at the start of last year. i'd get it properly authenticated by sending a picture to the coins curator at the british museum and asking for their help. it is free and they give a genuine authentication....................
here is the link.......i always use the museums to authenticate coins as they hold the finest collection of numismatic literature in the country........ http://www.britishmuseum.org/about_us/.../coins_and_medals
here is a photo of an ashmore cnut penny sent to me by one of my friends in the trade, look at this and you will see just how good a forger he is, this forgery is a york variety. but if yours is genuine it is a superb example of a rare coin.
