Ok guys, just bought this IHC first picture is the sellers: This is my picture below. I obviously think i made a good buy based off the picture, but can anyone tell me what those streaks are? Woodgrain effect? Toning? I dont think they are scratches, but im not sure. BTW this is a 1902 that was listed as BU
I think you made out extremely well, considering the seller's pic. The dark bands of color don't look like scratches. Folds of roll paper perhaps?
thats a IHC woody. It's caused by the alloy mix if you go to the post on woody by BadThad you will see many woody grained cents. Looks nice.
Best steal ever off of Teletrade -- won it for $20 + BP. Off to robec for some stellar pictures. (Pardon the sideways/miniscule photos, those are from my phone)

Two more toned Kennedy Halves today. These are the seller’s images. The first has thick bull’s eye toning on the reverse – probably an end-roll piece. I think it has great potential as far as irl eye appeal goes, but if it doesn’t, I have good communication with the sellers about returning them with no questions asked. It looks like terminal stage black around the rim, but actually it’s a deep purple (I hope)... The obverse is a dog, but if the reverse is as stunning as I’m gambling it is, I’ll be able to live with that. The second also has a thick reverse, probably from one of those old cardboard back albums… The obverse on this one isn’t too bad… I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the outrageous toning on the reverse of the Kennedy I posted in post 6399, so I have a good feeling about these two. If they’re worthy of it, I’ll have them properly imaged. I realize this isn't the kind of toning most people appreciate, but for some odd reason, I find it fascinating.
Sorry guys, I got pulled away from my computer last night before I could finish that IHC i got. Here is the Obverse and I will re-post the reverse as well with both seller pics and my newer pictures. Sellers: Now mine, and please mind the pictures they arent the best, but sure better than the sellers. Oh and I paid $15 for this coin, did i make out alright?
Three raw pieces, seller's images. Don't know if they're AT or not, but I'm thinking, who would bother to barely AT a coin and sell it for 5 bucks? Anyway, I've got a few toned coins in PCGS slabs on their way, so I can compare the toning to these raw ones - an education in what to look for...
