I found this about three months ago i finally got around to it because i was thinking it was just PMD. but now Im not so sure but don't know why it would be the exact size of a dime. i was thinking a press maybe but that would have to be one damn accurate press to punch out the little bit that would be missing off the rim there.. so i figured i would go to the experts.

back in the day the cost of a bottle of coke from the machine was 10 cents. some inventive children found that if they filed down the edge of a cent and made it the size of a dime they could fool the machines.

I think that the term "filed" might have been meant in a generic way. Almost every high school used to have a metal shop with grinders, emery cloth, etc., and when they weren't making copper tubing rings for the girls, or machetes for others, they could quickly make a "dime" slug. Now days, the metal shop is too dangerous or expensive to maintain, and every student is going to become a doctor, lawyer, or NFL player. :(
