I got this in change a few years ago; a bright eagle on the reverse of a 1995 Washington quarter . The eagle itself is much more of a silver color than its surroundings. If someone did this outside of the mint, then they did a great job! How could this happen at a mint?
I don't think the eagle is brighter, more like the fields are darker or messed with. Eagle is the color of a quarter and the fields look yellowish.
Thanks. I'll take another look. It's only the reverse that has the different toning; the obverse is normal. Not sure why a company would do this since the difference in toning is relatively subtle as opposed to bright and flashy with lots of contrast (e.g., gold versus silver) aj
I like the look of that quarter. When I get a nice toned quarter in my pocket change I'll take some Brasso to the eagle... carefully.
