Guess the Weight Contest

Hello CT! I have been on the forum for three years now and have just recently had by 1,000th post! I have decided to celebrate this milestone by hosting a 'guess the weight' contest. The rules are simple: 1) This contest is open to all CoinTalk members with more than 25 posts. 2) Answers must be given in pounds (lbs.) to the tenth decimal place (example: 10.7 lbs) 3) Each member may guess up to three (3) times (I would appreciate if all guess where in the same post!) 4) With any repeat guesses, the first correct guess will be the winner. *5) If there is a tie in that 2 guess are equal distance from the correct weight, I will randomly chose the winner, check out my post in post #4. **6) Please do not edit posts after 48 hours of posting (I'm not sure why but I threw this in).

Ok, now for the contest. As a copper cent roll hunter I have accumulated many rolls of pre-82 copper cents. Your task is to guess the weight of these rolled cents. Attached is a picture of my 'hoard' and for those who might find it helpful, the dimensions of the box are 14in x 4in x 4in.

The prizes are a 1961 proof Washington quarter and an off-centered strike Lincoln cent (about 60% off centered) with no date. This contest will close on New Years Eve (when the ball drops ). The winner will be the person with the overall closest guess (so say the actual weight is 10.0lbs, a guess of 10.2 would win over a guess of 9.7lbs). Well I hoped I covered everything and I wish everybody a Merry Christmas!!

Not ready to guess yet but what if it weighs 10.0 lbs and two people guess 9.8 and 10.2?

BTW, what happens if the two closest guessers are the same distance? For example, the correct answer is 10.0 lbs and the two nearest guesses are 9.9 lbs and 10.1 lbs?

 

I would use a random number generator and assign numbers 1, 2, etc and take the first number, or just flip a coin. Whichever situation, I would make sure that it is random and let you know how I chose the winner .

 

My guesses are 15.0 pounds, 15.2 pounds, and 15.4 pounds. Thanks for the contest!

just to clarify, is the weight just of the rolls of coins or does the weight include the box they are in as well?
