omg i feel sorry for the sucker who paid $4150 for a coin with only those pics, yet alone from GSC... I can only imagine the flaws those juiced pics are hiding...

Cannot be graded from picture--the picture is doctored too much.

Can't believe someone would pay over 4 grand on a juiced picture .

I'm the bidiot/sucker who won that auction. In fact, my max bid was closer to $5K. I was just happy to get it for much less than I thought I would end up paying. I'll post pictures as soon as I receive it. if we assume it will grade PF63, what would be a fair price I would be able to liquidate it at with relative ease? Any ideas?

I'm also planning on bidding on the other coin that's ending later today. : )

I cant imagine the 2nd one grading with that color. Once in hand take great care to verify these are proofs and first sign of doubt return them.

thanks. That's the idea. No sure why folks here are so worried. I'm not worried one bit. Worst case, I spend $15 out of my pocket shipping it back and they get to make interest off my money for a couple of weeks. I plan on taking it to multiple LCSs ASAP and getting opinions on the grade. If it turns out to be really good and someone offers more than I paid for it, I'll sell it right away.

Oh, and please don't bid me up on the next auction. I don't have much more cash lying around. I'd have to liquidate some stock market postions. : )

I would send it into PCGS before selling it.

i am still curious to how they obtain so many high end coins. how often do you see proof seated, barber, and morgan stuff at stores or shows? every once in a while for me. but they ALWAYS have them listed day after day. i do not get it

The coins you are writing about are easy to find, you just won't find them in the local stores. They are commonly found at larger shows in virtually all grade levels.

If it doesn't match the pics, send it back and leave negative feedback, it's as simple as that.

I've been watching their coins for quite some time and have never seen the same coin twice.

So what everyone is saying here is that GSC has a loyal bunch of rich, blind customers? I don't get it....

That photo is clearly hiding flaws. Its either photoshopped or the light was manipulated to create a very flat field.

And though I'm not that great at photographing coins I mistakenly shot a coin one time with a strong light and it looked almost exactly like that. Truth was the coin on hand was only about a MS63

I have bought coins from GSC previously and was quite happy, although I knew going into the sale that the pictures were manipulated. I agree that collectors with limited experience should be careful with GSC auctions, but I don't think they should be avoided entirely.

I took a chance. It's very unlikely but maybe GSC thought they'd get more for the coins. I also won the other auction. Paid 1900 for the other toned Proof Morgan. Will post pictures after Jan 1st. I'm holding off on paying them because I don't want to get the coins before Jan 1st. 14 calendar day return policy and my LCS is closed next week.

Should have listened to you guys. One of them is cleaned and the other is probably not even a proof. "Coin Consultant" said he would be happy if he was able to sell them for $1000 a piece. Will post pictures shortly. Can't find my camera.

Yes, I already contacted them and they asked me to send the coins back for a full refund. Cost of a good lesson learnt = $10
