    PR66 CAM

Can't really tell from the pics, but the first one suggests enough contrast for DCAM

Mirror polish and yes probably DCAM

Very likely higher than 66 as well, but you can't judge from pics. PCGS and NGC throw a lot of 69's at the Kennedy proofs.

The background is black so its hard to tell what the coin looks like ?

Well I tossed this one up for a reason, My girl got it for me (early xmas) she couldn't resist the shiny :D after examining several times and finaly taking out the scope for a closer look. I can not find a single mark or scratch on this coin the clean sharp rim actualy makes me think it came out of a proof set. Giving serious consideration to having it graded as this one of those "rare" High graders with 69/70s pulling equaly big bucks :D Rarer if its a proof (can anyone tell one way or the other from the pics?)

The pics make the hair detail look weak, but I suspect that's a matter of focus and resolution. The first pic is out of focus.

There are two types of the 81-S. When they were first produced, the mint mark was a bit mushy - that's Type 1. The mint mark was corrected, and those are the "clear S" Type 2 variety. I can't tell what type you have from the pics.

PR69 DCAM Type 1 coins aren't rare or expensive - you can get them for $10.

PR69 DCAM Type 2 coins are a bit pricier - $50 to $70, depending on the dealer.

If you should get a PR70 grade, you might get a few hundred dollars for it at auction. I don't know if that qualifies as "big bucks" to you or not...

Edited to add: there's nothing really rare about Kennedy proofs.

When I enlarge the top two photos, I see a lot of small surface abrasions on Kennedy and the shield. I don't see it going any better than PF66CAM.

Ok maybe calling a couple hundred "big bucks" is a misnomer but even 50-70 is big when I know the woman spent less then $5.00 on it :D As for the S I did shoot some extra pics of it, it is bright and clear so I am thinking it is type 2.

edit: darn hair is inside the 2x2

Looks like a clear S. That's the fun of collecting though. Most dealers don't have time to cherry-pick everything in their inventory, so you occasionally find pieces that are worth much more than you paid for them.

on a side note recent auctions have sold this at PR70 for 1500 (ngc) and 1700+(pcgs) in just the last few months so more then a few hundred :D

Registry collectors. But to be bluntly honest, your coin is not a PR70. Unless you really want it in a slab, you'd be wasting your money sending it to a TPG.

Sweet the woman added more to the pot told me she also ordered a PR69 type 1 in pcgs JFK label slab (also 81-s)
