Based on the condition of those found coins, I’m betting dad (or someone) planted those coins, which is cool too.
All of the silver I have found detecting in my area has also been very bright, I have often wondered if acidic soil almost acted as a "dip".
No offense intended to anyone. The point of this thread, Lincolncent, is to discuss the effects of cleaning on a coin. Detecto's coin is just a good example.
Gee, what "comments are so "trolly?" Just inquiring, and at least I actually care about academics and the welfare of others, unlike others in my school.
Just trying to point out, that although the coin looks nice, it HAS been cleaned, hasn't it? Sorry if it offended anyone, and Personal apologies to Detecto.
I think you're a good kid, frostyluster. Keep up the good work. You might have chosen a different coin to discuss cleaning though, because choosing Detecto's does sort of come across as a criticism of a coin that he values. That's all. You're not a troll. Peace.
Unfortunately, even the best of intentions are not always clear, which looks to have been the case with this thread. Glad you cleared everything up. No harm, no foul.
Think everything has been said - it came off sounding mean-spirited. Oh well - and no offense to you frostyluster!
I think "coming off mean spirited" is an understatement. However, no offense intended, I was just genuinely wondering why start a thread to bash someone else's coin, however at the time I didn't realize you were born in this century. Best of luck in your academic, as well as numismatic, studies, frostyluster.
