Language is tricky! In American Ass is for bottom, and only a mild expletive. In English Ass is for Donkey, and not an expletive at all, but Arse, which is for bottom, is more of an expletive. How we expect people to understand us I don't know! Anyway, here are a couple of female arses on the same coin - Olympic 50p for Hockey.
I changed your title and accept the use of the word within the thread as long as it is obvious that it is a language difficulty ( due to your post above). There are some who might use it as an excuse to add cartoons or other angles which will not be accepted, so lets keep it with coins
Actually, PaddyB, it's abit stronger than that. (But as a synonym for 'donkey' it's otherwise not.) The mild (childish) American term for glutes/buttocks was/is "fanny" ... which means something rather different in Britain.
Thank you very much, Sir. I'm grateful to you that you changed the name of my thread. Please change all "a....s" in my posts on a good words.
You can edit all of your own posts within 24 hrs. by using the "edit post" icon under each post. Your use of "naked" solved the problem in many. no need to change all of the posts, just any new ones. Thanks for your consideration. Jim
Why was my Cook Islands Fertility $1 coin removed, I only showed the reverse. QEII was not shown on the obverse The coin is shown in Krause.
(I rephrased the quote for you. ) A symbol of strength, combined with the idea of sowing after the war, I guess. That coin is odd in more than one regard though. It was designed by Michael Powolny, based on a painting from the 1920s by Albin Egger-Lienz, titled Sämann und Teufel (Sower and Devil). So the naked person on the 1 schilling coin is, strictly speaking, the devil (sowing poisoned wheat). Also, Egger-Lienz's works were not very popular in the first post-WW2 years because some leading nazis had apparently liked them (Egger-Lienz died in the mid-1920s). But I suppose that, after a while, people in Austria did not think of the man on the coin as a devil. After all, Powolny did not "copy" the painting but created his own work more or less loosely based on it. Christian
