Would anyone know the value of a 1987 penny minted out of a dime. This is a clear 1987 US Lincoln cent made from a Roosevelt dime. Penny is kind of thin with shadows of the dime impression and edge is serated in places. material is clearly the nickle material used for dimes. This is a case of a dime was dropped into the Penny blanks at the US Mint. Lincoln's head has a bit of Roosevelts hair. This was found in 1987 in a roll of dimes. Could someone help?
I believe there are several factors that go in to determining the value of that type error. The condition of presevation is very important. How much of the original dime's detail remains, is important. Is the dime's date there, or is it obliterated? These can get pretty pricey, as I'm sure you know.
Without pictures it is difficult to determine whether or not the 'coin' was produced by the mint or an item that was simple made post mint.
It's sometimes discouraging when folks come here asking for help, then you don't hear from them for several days, if at all.
Yep... I think frosty has to realize a 5 1/2 year old thread (where the OP has never returned) won't yield any pics, lol. Unless the OP is "you-know-who"
