I picked this up for melt today. I will probably keep it (the only one I have) but does anyone think I could get more for it? The back is almost smooth but "on_ dim_" can be made out. It does not show on the scan. Redbook has $20 for G-4 so I know there is not much room to move. The white spots are not on the coin. Thanks
Nope sorry. The obverse is probably an AG03, but the reverse is not an AG03, or FR02 even...probably a poor. Not to mention the coin is damaged from having that tape or whetever on the obverse. It is worth no more than melt.
Yeah for sure! I have an 1835 Capped Bust that is barely better than yours and I would never sell it for melt.
If one is going to buy "junk", it is wiser to buy something like this than it is the everyday melt material. That said, I've little doubt that there is someone who would pay you a small premium, even if only for the novelty factor.
It was in with some mercury dimes that I was looking through for a couple of hole fillers. I also got a worn barber dime for melt.
