I bought a large ot of foriegn coins today and needs somehelp identifing. I have a large medal(about the size of my palm) celebrating the 500th anniversary of Columbus find America. It says Colombo e portugal 1476-1485 on the package and 500 Anos Da Descoberta Da America 1492-1992 on the medal. It also says 1304/1500 on the side. I also found a Three Pence from 1704 with Anna on the obverse. It is about the size of a dime.
Any help with value would be appreciated.

I can't tell you too much about the Portuguese medal because I don't speak the language, but the 1304/1500 is probably the issue number of the medal out of 1500 produced.

I was thinking that too. Do you know anything about the 3 pence.

No, I don't collect foreign coins, but there are plenty of people here who do. I'd suggest that you post some photos in the Foreign Coins forum and ask about it there.

Don't know anything about the medal, but those words look suspiciously similar in English. ;) Agreed about the serial number though. As for the design, the lower image probably shows - apart from the sea waves and the map - the sails of the three ships (Santa Maria, Niña, Pinta) if rotated 90° CW. The abbreviation INCM refers to the Portuguese mint, so the medal will have been made there. Also, the artist's name (A Marinho) refers to a designer who works for the mint, António Marinho.

I have some more questions about some pretty interesting coins that I got, anybody wanna see them?

It would probably be best to start a new thread on them rather than just run them through this thread.

And as you mentioned before, it may be helpful to post the "foreigners" to the World/Ancient forum. Even if the ultimate question is what they may be worth. ;)

i asked because the medallic art company has been making medals for years and it seems most that are seen are made by them

That's a very cool looking coin! Can't imagine how you'd store that though.
