A thought for a new thread - post coins with pictures of Machines, Machinery, or modes of transport other than ships or straight horseback. (As those have been covered by other recent threads!)

Here are a few to get it going:

    Earls Court Ferris Wheel token,
    Cornish Mining Token,
    Mail Coach Token.

Canadian locomotive series comes to mind. I don't have any but perhaps others do? Would love to see some......

A few more modern ones to keep you going:

Swing Bridge across the River Tyne on a £1 coin
Early locomotive on a £2 coin
    WW2 aircraft on a D Day commemorative 50p coin

Well if medals are "in bounds" try this one - commemorating the centenary of the Times Newspaper in 1885 and presented to all members of staff at Bearwood House, the home of the owners - The Walter family. Fewer than 300 believed to have been issued. 2 oz of silver. I suppose a clock counts as machinery?

Also the famed Hippocampus on the Panama coins. That is one strange mode of transportation.

moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

what has always surprised me is why the uk have never issued a coin to commemorate the rainhill trials? they were after all the starting point for the advent of the worlds passenger railway system.

One of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) coins in all the classic (US) commemorative series. One that will never grace my collection, I daresay. I don't think the wife would allow me to sell the house and all of our belongings to purchase one........:)

Gosh I wish they'd make these things in coin silver. Such a waste with 'clad'. Not the design though. Nice one Ripley.......
