That 2009 is a special issue commemorating the bicentennial of Lincolns birth and the 100th anniversary of the first Lincoln cent (first Lincoln cent 1909).

    Hi chizmar,
I see what you are referring to. I'm sorry, but the image isn't clear enough for me to give an opinion though.
Can you get a closer shot and turn on macro on your camera? I don't want to speculate.
    Does that anomaly feel raised?

There are four pennies that year that have different designs called Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky, Formative Years in Indiana, Professional Life in Illinois, and Presidency in Washington. Yours is the Presidency in Washington.

I think you are missing the point. He's referring to the markings on the reverse lol. At least that's what I think he's referring to...

It's the Capitol Dome on the reverse. It looks weird becasue its undergoing construction.

I thought it was the capital building?

Ahhh, I think you are correct about the construction. My bad. Also, it's the capital building.

Won't be necessary, I was wrong about what you were asking. Jwt708 covered it.

The proof ones are actually made of copper too.

It does have a different look to it that deep copper color

Is their a marking on it to let me know if it would be a proof?

Yeah... and you would notice the obvious differences. This is not a proof.

The proof coins would be minted in San Francisco and have an "S" mint mark. They also appear much different in appearance from a business strike. They have mirrored fields and cameo contrasted devices. The photos below are from the Lincoln Chronicles set that included the 4 cents and a commemorative dollar.

Personally, I like the new shield design better than all of the previous Lincoln Cent reverse designs.
