As some of you may know, I'm active in the Glendale (CA) Coin Club and was recently named the Vice-President. For our upcoming Holiday newsletter, I thought it would be fun to try to get something more interesting to share with the club than the usual list of upcoming birthdays, winners of the previous month's door prizes, etc. My family and I are fans of the TLC show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" which features 7-year old Alana Thompson aka "Honey Boo Boo" who is a frequent contestant (but never the winner) of beauty pageants. Apparently, the show became one of the highest rated shows on The Learning Channel. Anyways, I thought it would be fun to make young Honey Boo Boo an honorary member of our coin club and decided to also make her pet chicken, named "Chicken Nugget," a member of the club too. I sent them a certificate of membership along with a 2005-S Proof Jefferson Western Waters Nickel graded PCGS PR69DCAM since 2005 is the year of Honey Boo Boo's birth, hoping that they would post a photo as they do with much of their fan mail. Around a week later, the following photo was posted on their FaceBook page and is the perfect photo for our club's Holiday newsletter: Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:
Not as happy as a Double Whopper, King Size fries and a 2 liter Mountain Dew would have made her, though.
Oh Lordy. We need more Red Necks in this hobby now that the Statehood Quarters program has expired. Anything to bring new blood into the hobby.......
I don't mind if she shows up to the next meeting, but if her mom comes she better not show us the Forklift foot.
As Dr. Phil would say: "Son, you need to see someone about your hobby hybridization." I hope this story makes itself into Coinworld...
All I can and will say here is 2 things that was a very nice thing to do for Honey Boo boo. The other being that both of her parents should be locked up and the poor kid found a proper loving home. Only my opinion but one I know is shared by many.
