the 2 coin SAE set never really increased in value and that was the only hope. Unless that star spangled banner $5 gold unc coin turns into something this year will be a bust. Am I wrong (did I miss something)
I thought the silver dollar Star Spangled Banner coins were great! Even if their value doesn't increase in the years to come (I think they will), the design is great and I consider that a winner especially considering the duds the Mint has put out in recent years. Another winner, while not major, would be the 2012 Native American dollar. The reverse is awesome!
Design-wise it was ok...also I took liking to the s mint marked business strike quarters. but you gotta put food on the table ya know
The year isn't over yet. Usually you don't see huge price spikes in the year of issue. People last year were foolish. This year, not so much.
the $5 star spangled unc had a mintage on 7,027. http://news.coinupdate.com/us-mint-sales-report-second-term-frances-cleveland-gold-coins-debut-1783/
2012's winners are just subject to further review. It seems to me that most of the potential is buried in low mintage of series which may well continue to see even lower mintage issues to come. Tough to tell when to catch this falling knife! If I had funds for it (sadly, no) my bets would be on a few 'P' pucks and the spouses.
