was going to say that until I read your post. Unless the safe is bolted to a steel I-Beam or concrete the thief(who has the right tools) won't have much of a problem.
I recently came across this site...and then spent several hours on it lol. http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=218213
I would only recommend placing valuables inside a safe if you can securely bolt it in place. If you rent and cannot drill into your walls or floors, then I would suggest a safe deposit box. If you rent and are the wearer of a tinfoil hat, I would suggest you put your coins where a burglar would not think or want to look. The smaller your collection is, the easier this is to accomplish. The bigger your collection is, the harder this becomes and the more you should be looking towards a securely mounted safe or a safe deposit box. I had a friend that was just out of college, renting an apartment and too cheap to spring for a safe deposit box. He had a few small valuables that were important to him. He hid them inside the back of a really old and ugly console TV that they had a couple of vintage video game systems hooked up to. If a burglar did choose to hit his apartment, I imagine they might have stolen the old Nintendo 64 and the games, but they probably wouldn't have touched the TV with a ten foot pole.
i use to have my collection in 2 separate safety deposit boxes. one for coins and one for currency. guess it didn't hurt to work at the bank. so i could check on my collection whenever i wanted to :thumb:
I would say pretty darn close to the great dane (scampy, my pit was one of my favorite dogs, probably the smartest too
I was responding to Rick's comment about hiding your collection under a big W. It is from a very well known movie from the early 60's.
Do yourself a favor and watch the MOVIE By that logic if I mentioned "the yellow brick road" only those over 75 would know what I am talking about. PS: I am 40 years old.
