Ebay people, what do you do and why?

After you sell a coin on ebay do you buy your postage label from PayPal or Ebay? Just wondering, is one cheaper than the other?. :thumb:

I think the rate is the same.... I personally like the ebay setup better but both are about the same.

 

Ebay USPS postage due to ease of use. It costs the same as Paypal and I think it's a little cheaper than USPS regular prices.
If I'm not selling through ebay, but using paypal for payment, I'll use paypal postage.

 

I use small bubble mailers, average shipping weight approximately 3 ounces, shipped first class with deivery confirmation. PayPal/eBay price: $1.64; USPS price: $2.80. I would call that considerable savings, especially since I offer free shipping.

 

I do the same, except when I'm shipping coins > $250, in which case I add insurance and signature confirmation to CMA.

 

In addition to that, You do not need to travel to Post Office. You can SAVE on GAS and your Valuable time too. What a deal!!!!!! I LOVE IT!:thumb:

:thumb::thumb: 3-4 oz cost only $ 1.64 with tracking confirmation. 3-5 days expected delivery. Sometimes in 2-3 Days Delivered, from east coast to west cost.

 

I will stick with eBay because it's only three clicks from start to print out the label. Beside, eBay own Paypal. Why do you need to go Paypal to create a postage label? It's no brainier to use eBay's postage label.

 

Personally, I still go to the PO. They give you a receipt which shows the label. There really is no reason for a receipt of mailing anymore, since it's automated (and free).

 

I do it all manually. I have a post office box, so I am around the post office often enough that it doesn't add trips for sending stuff out. Could I do it at home on my own printer? Sure, but by the time you add in the expense of toner and the frustration of using the typical home printer, it simply isn't worth the trouble. All it takes is one or two labels not printing properly and the lost postage that goes along with that, to defeat the convenience of doing it that way.

How can your printer make mistake? It's simple image and direct to printer to print it out. It's no hassle and quicker than waiting in the line. I have no problem with error print out with eBay postage check out. Unless your printer is Lexmark?

 

They give you the option to reprint a label if an error occurs and you can even void the postage within the first 24 hours. Other than when E-Bay was messing with their printer templates, I have never had problems printing E-Bay labels and I use actual self adhesive labels. Most people use a blank sheet of paper and simply tape it to their package. I am really lazy!

 

Well if it really saves that much money, it might be worth doing it. Especially if it makes getting ripped-off harder to do by people claiming they didn't receive a non-insured item. If I sell a coin for less than $30 on eBay, in the past I typically self-insure. Seems to me spending the extra dough to insure something that inexpensive is counterproductive.

 

Or if you know a little bit about stamps, you can buy discount postage at 70% to 80% of face value. The vast majority of my eBay sales are under $25 and thus nothing needs to be insured. Apply the correct postage and leave it for the mailman.

If you're willing to fool around with no-gum, and use a gluestick, then you pay 50% to 70%. The reason you need to know a little about stamps -- when you buy a large lot of discount postage, often as not there's some collector's items that need to be pulled and resold, not used for postage.

You also need a 5# battery-powered scale, but I've found them at garage sales for $2 to $5.

 

I self insure for under $200.00. I also get signature confirmation for everything I send out insured.
I never charge the buyer for insurance or signature as it only benefits me. The buyer only pays basic postage fee.
My carrier picks up at my door every day and scans the labels into the system as soon as he picks up.
I use a monochrome laser printer. A $65 toner cartridge lasts me about 2 years and labels are about 4 cents each.
I've never had a problem with printing labels, but did have to get labels voided. It's easy to do, but you sometimes have to wait as long as 30 days for the refund.

 

Do you charge buyers for shipping or is it "FREE!"

 

Depends on the price.
Everything goes Priority Mail so I can track the item and the buyer can get it within 3 days.
Low priced items get charged the Flat Rate for the smallest box the item will fit in.
Over $50 gets free shipping.
I will combine orders to reduce or eliminate shipping fees, too.

It's been a while for me. For signature confirmation, do they still use the little cards taped to the package? You can pay Ebay for everything and just drop it in a mailbox?
