Has anyone seen a coin that when it was atamped it only the stamp hit the edge of the coin and created anothe small half moon circle on the edge of the coin. I have a 1967 penny like this and on one side of the coin is the date and on the other side of the coin is Lincolns perfect face from the forehead to his chin.I would like to know if it is worth anything. It Is mint. Got it from a bank in 67.
It's a 67 not 65, but cool find anyway. It will be worth a little something but how much will really be determined by what someone is willing to pay for it.
That's a pretty extreme off center strike, as far as those go. And the date is visible, which adds to the value. Price range, I'd say $10 to the right buyer, probably less. $3-10 maybe?
Hello . Sweet find . This kind of error is called " Multiple Strike " . The fact that there is a date will definitely increase its value. 7Calbrey ( member )
No, it is not called a "Multiple Strike". It is an "Off-Center Strike" of approximately 65%. Fred Weinberg has a Lincoln cent 65% O/C and certified by PCGS for $300. http://www.fredweinberg.com/inventory/item.php?ID=6574 Chris
Do you think that's a fair price for that, or is it high? I had no idea the market for these was that strong.
You have what is called an "off center strike". Those that are highly off center yet still show the date are very desirable in the collecting community. Personally, I believe the PCGS example listed above is at a "moon" price but it could be justified by PCGS population reports. Nonetheless, $300 is FAR MORE than I'd be willing to pay for one. As a raw coin a more realistic value would be around $20. I would grade it at MS-63.
I don't disagree that Fred's price may seem high, but I have been visiting his site for about 8 years, and his prices have always been high. So, he must be selling them. With that said, I think that even raw, $20 is somewhat low. Chris

A Multiple Strike is a coin with at least one additional image resulted from being again off - center struck . Good Luck 7Calbrey
Gotta agree with that. You can get off center strikes similar to this in the 20-30 range though this one seems very nice and might fetch a 50 on the bay
