Just what the title says folks... Id like to know the diference between an MD and a DDO/DDR. I know i saw a drawing/sketch of the "shelf" and "edges" of the lettering but i cant find the post... Can anyone give me a little schooling session? What all should i be looking for on Memorial Cents??
here ya go http://hermes.csd.net/~coneca/content/StrikeDoublingFlyer-PDF.pdf And as for what to look for, check out these 2 http://www.coppercoins.com/ http://www.lincolncentresource.com/
And just for the record, doubled dies are considered varieties, not errors. If you are interested in lincoln cents, both memorial and wheats, the lincolnresource.net forum has a lot of great pictures and information as well.
ddr/variety... more than 1 consecutive coin struck to be identical... (look at the letters of "monticello") error... unique, in a way, in that the next coin didn't have the exact same flaw, i.e., missing planchet...
Touche... Thank you all for the good advice... I will look more closely in the future! I do believe i have found my first WAM variety... Post soon to follow!
Thank you Non - I just learned something new!!! I've mistakenly been calling WAMs and CAMs 'errors'. I am now officially in search of a 1992 Close AM Variety! Dave
