    i don't know my top 10, but i know my #1
    1512.jpg
it's #1 because it represents who i am in the sense of where i'm from. my 13th great-grandfather was born in 1515 jülich-berg. part of me hopes he held this coin from 1512 jülich-berg.

I pick these today just because I like them (and I have photos of them).

It will take a couple posts at 5 photos per post.

OK, That makes a total of ten. I had to pass by so many beautiful coin designs looking for these ten.

I want to add an 11th. She is the Italy 500 Lire depicting the young girl in medieval dress. May I post a photo of her?

    No! Only ten!
Actually I don't think anyone would complain if more pictures are added.

Thanks for the green light to post coins #11 & 12. :D

I really like the Italy 500 Lire design but the proof Morgan photo was also there saying "post me, post me".

Nice list of ten. I must get a Caballito peso someday. The first time I saw the coin was here at CT. I've been looking for nice one ever since. :)

Morgandude11 As long as it's Silver, I'm listening

I have to make this my top 11th coin, as I love it and its design. So, I am cheating and adding this one to the list: I have posted this one before also, but this is my MS 70 Smithsonian.

    1. 1964 quarter. It's the first coin in my grandfather's set that really caught my eye. I'm not sure if it's cleaned or not, but it's pristine.
    2. 1776-1976 S uncirculated quarter. It's the first single coin I've ever purchased on my own.
    3. 2012 Silver American Eagle. I love the obverse. There isn't a mint mark, I'm not sure if it matters, but I consider this a coin.
    4. 2012 Acadia circulated quarter. It's the first ATB quarter I've ever seen because I hadn't paid attention. So this really jumpstarted me into enjoying collecting. Plus, this past summer my family and I spent our first big vacation in Acadia.
    5. 2012 Hawaii circulated quarter. I loved the thrill of the chase, looking for this one. Plus my son loves volcanoes.
    6. Andrew Jackson circulated dollar. It was the last of the set. Now I'll be looking to complete Ps and Ds for 2007-2011 presidents (the rest will be collected in uncirculated mint sets, so no big deal finding those).
    7. Utah state quarter. The last of the states needed to complete the collection. Again, the thrill of the chase. Now we're looking for Ps and Ds.
    8. 1918-2008 Canadian quarter. A completely unexpected find. My son loves the design. I love that my son fawns over it.
    9. 2012 glow-in-the-dark dinosaur quarter from the Royal Canadian Mint. I love the idea, it's a beautiful design. I'm a little disappointed that it isn't as shiny as the other coins I have, but it's the make up of the quarter, so it really isn't a big deal. I can't wait to collect the remaining three in the set.
    10. Mercury dimes. I don't have a specific one that I enjoy, but I do like to look at them. I have quite a few in my collection.

All of these coins are really turning me into a collector. I have my 2013 wishlist on another thread. Perhaps I'll add it here. I'm excited. Perhaps in 2 years (depending on what's released in 2014) I'll start purchasing older coins. I'm still new, researching, and figuring out what I like.

My favorite coins are my favorites for many reasons.

    1. 1943 XF-45 Mercury dime. Given to me by my grandmother when I was about five, it was the first coin in my collection and will never be upgraded, that coin is perfect in my eyes.

    2. 1879-O Branch mint proof Morgan dollar. Left to me in the will of my old friend Jack Lee, who, in my mind was one of the greatest collectors of all time.

    3. 1913-S MS-62 Barber quarter. My most recent purchase, and the coin that completed my 20th century set of US coins cent through dollar.

    4. 1893 PR-65 Liberty nickel. No special reason besides that it is just jaw dropping gorgeous.

    5. 1861 complete seven coin proof set. The set that started my love of proofs.

    6. 1837 PR-63 half dime. A richly toned example of the mere twenty or so known to exsist. From my Great Great Grandfathers collection. That coin is not for sale at any price.

    7. 1856 PR-62 Flying eagle. A favorite of any collector including myself.

    8. 1881 J-1671 PR-64 Liberty nickel pattern. My avitar coin.

    9. 1922 PL Peace dollar. Raw, but it is the only really brilliant proof like Peace dollar that I have ever seen.

    10. 1916 MS-63 Standing Liberty quarter. Really not one of my favorite coins, the toning is a bit ugly and I hope to upgrade it soon for a whiter example, but I paid way too much for it not to be on the list.
