Purchased my first large cent the other day, here are the pics (I didn't take them, but they are of the actual coin). I was on a tight budget, so I picked a nice low-grade cent as a starting point for my collection.
Finally .... only 1 more to go, the gold plated 2005 V nickel left on my list but I got this tonight. The 1935-2010 Silver proof Commemorative Canada 5 cent of which I believe there were only 5000 minted.
Had to think about that one for a second... But yes, I agree with our always-comical green18 - that's a very nice B.T.W. half! Nice pick-ups. :thumb:
1853 Braided Hair Large Cent. PCGS MS62BN CAC. Picked up this beauty at 4am this morning for $225 (insomniacs catch the worm sometimes). The coin was part of the "Broward County Type Set", which is a collection of Type coins assembled by a long time collector over the course of a few decades and finished in the late 1980's just as "slabbing" was coming into vogue. This particular Large Cent that I bought looks like potential upgrade material to my eye. These are the sellers photos, which I "levels adjusted" in Photoshop to reduce the brightness a bit. I will post new photos when I get the coin in hand and can do better coin/photo matching. I like that I am seeing a bit of glossy luster peeking out. It's kind of amazing to me that you can buy a 160 year old, pre Civil War mint state coin as nice looking as this for around two hundred bucks.
I have been looking for a 1 Ounce Proof Libertad for a while now, ever since I bought my first uncirculated one. I picked this up a couple days ago. This is a stock photo, I can't wait to get mine in the mail, it should be stunning. Only 10,000 minted.
You picked a beauty for sure. If anybody wants to see the collection try http://www.harlanjberk.com/unitedstatesco/cnus.asp?inventorygroup=us. Right now it is posted on the US coins page at Harlan Berk. Look for the virtual catalog. Some really sweet coins in the collection.
Baltimore show, excuse the horrible pics. The coins are much better in hand. And I picked this up at the PO on the way...
