I'm not much good at grading yet. I am hoping to get some expert opinions on the grade of this 1932-D Washington quarter.
Same Coin - Questionable Mint Mark. Pretty much a filled in Mint. Could be a D - S or ???????. I paid the price for a "D". What do you think ? Dave
I don't see that. Remember, the 32's are notorious for having "sunken" mintmarks. Dirt always collects in the depression. If you ever see a 32 mm that is nice, clean, and shiny, THAT has been messed with. What's the old saying on these? If the mm looks good it isn't, and if it looks bad its good. Something like that. Chris
A second look is making me wonder if the MM is legitimate. Because I am not an expert on Washington quarters, the only way I would buy a 1932D is from my lcs or slabbed (I understand slabs can be counterfeited).
From what I see, (and I could be wrong, these are best to have in hand), his last pic makes it look like the metal is flowing into a depression around the MM. That to me is an excellent sign and why I believe its genuine. Just posting why I believe the coin is good. If others see something else, that's cool.
