Hey everybody... a new day, a new pickup to post. Gonna ride these stars for a while I think, and I have a wide variety coming up, gonna throw a curve now and again. Let's start it off right - lime and a star, what sorcery is this!? You know I'd be panting like a dog after that combo. Pretty happy with this guy, lime stars tend to be pretty rare.
Mec i think once your likes exceeds your number of post that makes you a good canidate for cointalk Hall of Fame :thumb:
I have a feeling my error frame could easily put me over the top, but I am gonna hold off on that for just a bit... I said I was going to hit this thread with some stars and I will not disappoint. Another new pickup that I really like is this 1934-D Cleveland D star - and who doesn't like double D's? This is only my second D district $10 star, not alot of sales on these and they are rarer than you might guess. Really happy with this in hand, nice paper body and I hope it creeps maybe into XF-40, but high VF at least to be sure. This is a note you like alot more than you thought you would. I was the only bidder on this and since it had a higher (but I still think a bargain) start it didn't get much attention, glad it came my way.
Nice additions everyone! Really like the LGS Star... Here is my latest addition to my Type collection and I got a pretty good deal for it. I cant find another record for one selling for less but I can find many that sold for a little and lot more. I believe this is Top Pop for all TPGS's...
It is the highest grade listed in PCGS. They report a population of 56 at this grade and paper quality.
Picked this up awhilr back, it's the only Radar note I own. Did not buy it as a Radar note, in fact I don't think the coin dealer I bought it from knew it was a Radar. I find that I always seem to find nice notes at coin shops. Bill Collector
Today the day before Thanksgiving I give thanks... for another star. Nice 1934 Philly star. I said I was gonna bring stars, more stars than a planetarium... nice paper on this one, crisp in hand...
We shall all give thanks for you to reveal all these great older series star note finds. Ebay or an elusive fishing hole find? Very nice Philly indeed!
Bonni - almost always theBay, but I do have my own little fishing hole I've gotten prime notes from (like my $100 Gold Coin note for just over face value... kapow!!) I did just win a star on Heritage, but they tend to sell for alot more there so it's an unsual get. Just got lucky I s'pose. I have more stars, but here's a curveball, so on Thanksgiving, I give thanks... for a star error. I had hoped this was a board break but I think it is an insufficient ink error. My first star error, it will go into my error frame, and I promise to post that frame once it's in (it's pretty spectacular if you are into errors). Tomorrow - a San Francisco treat...
