airtite for quarter size question

So I'm getting ready to put a bulk purchase in for some airtites. I need the H39 (ring type) size for a variety of coins however I also have some quarters that I need to put in something. The T30 w/24mm insert would probably be the more appropriate size for quarters although I see you can get a 24mm "large" insert where you can put the quarters in an H39. Can someone post pictures of a quarter in both T30 and H39 sized ring-type airtites so I can see the difference.

    Thanks

Thanks. That helps but was really also hoping for a picture of a quarter in an H with the wider ring. I realize a small detail but just wanted to see if the ring was huge and it looked absolutely ridiculous and my google-fu is apparently weak.

I don't know of a pic that shows an H. But just imagine, a T can hold a coin up to 25mm in size. An H can hold a coin up to 32mm in size. So the ring is going to be approx 7mm wider than what you see in the T pic.

I can post some pics of both when I get home from work. The larger insert does look ridiculous though. A long time ago I purchased some quarters in these, and have been too lazy to swap them out.

One thing to consider is if you plan on stacking many different kinds of coins. If so, then the same diameter holder might be the way to go (for ease of stacking).

Thanks for the info and thanks John for the pictures. In the end I did exactly what lgl mentioned and just standardized on the H. I already have a bunch of the "I" model and figured two sizes was enough.

Another thing to consider is if you’re going to accumulate a lot of these, the larger holder will require more storage space. I personally prefer the direct fit Air-Tites.

Thanks! That's really helpful because I'm going to get some airtites soon too.

Last I checked, A-T didn’t make tubes for them, but there was someone on eBay selling what he called, Tube-Tites. I’m using those.

In my safe I have these plastic stackable tubs purchased from office depot. I have a tub for American silver, Third Reich, German silver, foreign silver, and silver rounds. I just put the coins (in airtites) in the tubs, they’re like pirate’s treasure chests. I like the white ring airtites because I’ve seen the black ring style leave black stuff on the coin’s edge. Then next to those I stack NGC & PCGS storage boxes, and folder sets next to those.

I've always used the black (for no other reason than I thought the black and silver looked better) and I've never seen this happen. However, you are the second person I've seen mention it on this forum. Do you have any pictures of this? My understanding is the rings were completely inert; regardless of color???

No, I don't have any pictures. About 3 years ago I ordered some Reichsmarks from overseas, they were all in the black ring airtites. When I removed them, there was this black residue kind of like tar. This was not toning. I had to clean the coins with soap and water to remove it (wasn't easy). Not sure if the package was exposed to extreme heat or not, but have stuck with the white rings ever since.

They are completely inert regardless of color. And the black rings will not leave anything on your coins.

All I can do is speak from my own experiences, and I remember this experience well because this was an all-day event for me. Others have seen the same thing. Now were these genuine airtites? I can’t say. Were the holders (with coin inside) exposed to extreme heat (like baking in a hot car all day), or humidity? I can’t say. – I do have friends that only use black because they look better, and have never had a problem.

Nobody is disputing what you say happened. But it was definitely not the black rings that caused it.
