I found this coin listed on the bay. The worst images a guy could do, it was a scanner image. But even with the bad image and all I could see this coin was amazing!! I won this Lincoln for $14.00. Here's the sellers images....
This one may have been dipped long ago but it's very nice piece and I picked it up for $49.00 on the bay a while back. This is another coin the seller had really bad images of.....DEX
You can bet your life on it bud!! I love it when I find these! I put it on my watch list and wait until the last second and then I come in like BIGFOOT with a big ol bid.Wipe em all out!!........DEX
He is a great friend. I have started talking to him about coins and asking his advice for my purchases. Being that I am a young child to the numismatic community it helps to have friends that now more about it than you lol.
He's very knowledgeable when it comes to coins and a great guy. We've been friends for quite some time now. He's a great photographer!!...DEX
I wish more people would approach coins in a similar way, I would know absolutely nothing if some of the members here did not go out of there way to show me. Otherwise i would have made alot of bad purchases and probably end up regretting my collection.
That is just the wrong way of looking at it. I have made a lot of bad choices and I expect to make alot more in the future but I have learned that I have great people that I can count on for advice. The bad choices I have made have made me think a little more about my next purchase and still even though I have bought some horrible coins lol I still cherish them for what they are and that is a coin that was not appreciated previously.
Look at it how ever you want but i know this only good for the grade problem free coins for my collection....
Everyone, including the most advanced collectors buy coins they wish they had passed on. That's simply part of the hobby. If you rely on others for advice, and that's ok as it will expedite the learning curve, I have only one piece of advice.... you should know that person. And when I say know I mean "know". There are collectors in the forum... there are dealiers in the fourm... there are collectors who sell regularly on the forum.. there are collectors who neither buy or sell coins on the forum... Some of each of the above cloak their business from their membership.. some do not... anyway,, I guess my point is that if this were a car forum, and we were talking about cars.... would you want to take advice from a used car salesman, or a guy builds hot rods as a hobby. The advice will be geared for different purposes. Know who your talking to... or listening to,,, in any forum.
When you put it that way you make it sound as if everyone has a knife in there left hand and there right hand is on your back patting it. I hate to look at people like that. I will stick with my own advise and if it fails well I still have my life and the things I enjoy in it and just the loss of a few bucks wont kill me.
