Thank you, all. And Kirkuleez, that S-3 you had is awesome!

Here is one more 1793, which I have also shown (at least once) before.
It is no beauty either, but in fact, it is my favorite, even heavily pitted as it is.

I think the pitting gives it the history and character. Since you're an avid collector of the type Eduard, have you ever come across any re-engraved pieces in your travels? I've seen an example with re-engraved hair that looked like medusa hair.

In fact, yes I have seen a few. If I recall, mostly with re-engraved hair on both Chain and Wreath cents. Also, a couple of counter marked wreath cents.
Amazing anybody would do something like that, but I am guessing it probably happened early in the 19th century when early date large cents could still be found in circulation. As a matter of fact, it would be nice to know up to what approximate time period could 1793-1800 coinage still be found in circulation in America.

    These are gorgeous pieces.

By the way, it won't take long to get this thread going. There are many 1794s in a reasonable price range. Grade might not be great, but this is early copper.

It was probably not out of the question to see these well into the 1800's before the civil war. When people started to hoard coins from circulation in lieu of war tokens and store cards, I would venture to guess a lot of these flowing hairs and draped busts disappeared.

    OK, enough '93's. Here's a '94:

    Now, who has a '95?

Nice light colored grain (nice color generally) on that '94. The bust part still has nice detail. Really good coin!

Are we jumping to 1794 (or 95) now? I thought it was only 1793 until Nov 5.

Also, is it one year per day, like the Lincoln thread, or do we jump to the next year just as soon as someone has posted the year before?

You're correct, we are still on the 93's until Nov. 5th. Gives some other members a couple days to catch up. And the format is the same as the Lincoln thread, one year per day. Nov. 6 - 1794, Nov. 7 - 1795, and so on...

It is, once November 6 rolls around and the next date we post is 1794 and it will be a one year up for each day afterwards. Just like the Days of Lincoln cents thread that I started.

I'm going to love this thread. I've wanted to Eduards collection for a while now he usually only teases us with one now and again.

Come on now. This HAS TO have a shot of the edge leaf. S-20 or NC-7, depending?
