I think this could be a dropped element, look at what appears to be a spear tip on the letter O. 2008 Reverse 1.jpg Reverse 2.jpg Reverse 3.jpg Reverse 4.jpg Reverse 5.jpg

Looks like the coin has been gouged.

Agree. Clearky the reeding from the coin which imparted the gouge can be seen.

Not a dropped element in my opinion. Just another hit.

I looked at all of your pics. It still looks like the coin took a hit, probably from the edge of another coin.

I think this is what you're talking about, there are two barb like round dots on whatever is attached to the O Reverse 7.jpg the two dots are silver in color.

I agree that it looks like a gouge. The edges look raised.

All the posters have it correct. there is no doubt about it , this is definately a hit from the reeded edge of another coin. this happens really often from the coins banging together. Don't get discouraged and keep on learning and enjoy the hobby.

I can see what you are thinking, but I agree it looks to be a hit from a reeded edge. It does look like it was a pretty hard hit to leave that much of an impression though. Maybe it's just the relief messing with me. Either way, it is PMD. Good luck, hopefully you will find something one day though.:thumb:

Reed mark - caused when the edge of a coin came in contact with the surface of your coin at a speed/pressure great enough to cause an impression.

    PMD. :)

I don't consider myself to be among the elite of the coin world, but I have learned quite a bit here.
