Thanks a lot Detecto. Reminding me how lacking I am in the 3-cent department. I don't even have a silver 3 cent. It's an empty hole in my type set. I know it sounds ridiculous, but man I have such a hard time pulling the trigger on such a small coin for such a large price. I'll get over it someday.

Sold this one to a guy from my local coin club recently. Always liked the 1851-O three cent silvers...

 

When I tell everyone at work I have a three cent nickel they laugh at me and tell me I got ripped off. I just walk away!!!

 

I don't know why a lot of people call them a 3 cent nickel. They are made from nickel, but they are not worth a nickel. 3 cent piece sounds better.
