Which print publication would you most recommend and why?
It’s renewal time, and I thought it would be a good idea to solicit your input. Considering just the publication (not the ANA membership, as that is subtracted) what would you recommend to a non-expert basic US coin collector and why? (approx. print prices below)
    Thanks for your recommendations.

I subscribe/have subscribed to all of them. My input would be: It depends. Do you know you are only interested in US coins? If you are open to reading about other areas, (obviously I believe it would serve you well), then I would vote for the Numismatist. It covers US coins, but also has decent articles on other topics, and who knows, maybe open a new door for you someday.

If you only wish to read about US coins primarily, I like both NN and Coinworld, with Coinworld maybe being thought of as a little better publication. I am thinking of taking it back up and dropping NN simply to get away from Patrick Heller rants and endless self promotion. :(

I like coinworld for u.s.modern. I have read a few issues of The Numismatist and really enjoyed themore detailed articles.

Thanks medoraman and Mat - I'm certainly open to more than just US coins, but that's where my interest is now. I'm leaning toward the Numismatist or CoinWorld right now, but am hoping for more comments. I've read a number of comments that people are shifting away from NN to CoinWorld. In an airport recently, I picked up the COINage and really liked it, especially the time-capsule article. Hence the need to seek input.. . .thanks again.

It is tough to go wrong with the Numismatist. It seems more scholarly. If you can go 2, I think the ones you are leaning towards are the right choices.

I've subscribed to Nusmismatic News. It's OK, but my subscription just expired and I don't think I'll renew. Really like CoinWorld and will most likely subscribe to it next. I also really like Coinage Magazine. I've read Coins magazine, but the bulk of the content is a price guide and very few articles.

Thanks - That confirmed my observation too about Coins Magazine.

If you only want to choose one, I would choose Coin World considering your main interest is US, which is what most of their articles are about. But they also have good things from around the world and they cover paper notes also. You also receive a digital version.
