Imagine my surprise to see this 14-D in my Coin World's latest edition. The magazine arrived yesterday and when I saw that the grading artical was on the Lincoln Cent it was the first to get my attention. My cent was the example used for MS62. I bought it originally because it was NOT a good example. It is a sharp strike and shows no rub or ware. It has 1 tics (very small) on each side. I have posted this coin before on CT. It was knocked down ffrom a 65 to a 62 because of the coloration. One thing I will claim with some certanty - it is the most unique and recognizeable MS Lincoln Cent on the planet!
I'd love to hear some other opinions from the Lincoln Lovers.

Did they contact you at all to get your permission to use your photographs of your coin?

62 is low for sure, I would have said 64 at minimum. You know as well as anybody what TPGs think of wood though.

He didn't say they used his images. He said they used images of a coin he currently owns.

I'm a tad confused, so pictures of his coin that may have been taken before he purchased the coin?

Why do you knock your own coin? That's an OUTSTANDING example and a woody to boot.....I absolutely love it! Great strike and EDS too.

Great coin! The obverse has a nice melloe crossgrain and the reverse has cool tiger striping going on.

BadThad, I'm not knocking my '14-D. It's much better then the PCGS grade - in my opinion.
I was not contacted by Coin World; however I believe the images used are from Heritage Auction site.

    THAT is a SUPERB strike for a 14 D.

Of note, you should name this cent. Mystic, Dark Cloud, Overcast, Batman....something....something about dark cloud and a little cryptic.

Why is this confusing to you? Yes, pictures of his coin from before he purchased it. As he states lower in the thread, he thinks the images are from Heritage.

Rights to the photos probably belong to the photographer who can sell and resell the image.

Great looking coin. BTW, did they give you a $50 or at least an honorable mention? Just wondering no big deal but if it was my coin I would like it better with my name next to it. :D
