LordM Giveaway #84 (pick your prize)

    Contest status: CLOSED
Drawing: Post #115 (bigtime36 from Collectors Universe won)
Shipping status: shipped 15 February 2023
    Winner's notice of receipt

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest giveaway. I thought it would be nice to go back to one of my "pick your prize" contests, so you can win something you'll really like.

The prize for this contest will be your choice of one of the following three coins. Each is about a $65-ish item at retail, and each has its own discussion thread, linked below.

    Pick one of the following:

    Ancient Category (Coin A)

Roman Empire: silver denarius of Trajan, ca. 98-117 AD; Mars advancing

    World Category (Coin B)

German States (Hamburg): silver 8-schilling of Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor, 1727-IHL

    United States Category (Coin C)

1944-S Walking Liberty half in old PCI green label MS63 holder

To enter: all you have to do is say that you want in, and specify which coin you would like if you should happen to win the random drawing. Also a word or two about why you want it, or some other coin-related comment of your choice. Only one entry post per contestant, please.

You may enter on someone else's behalf if you do not desire the prize for yourself. Simply state who you would like to receive it, should your entry win the drawing.

The drawing will be held sometime on or after St. Valentine's Day, February 14th, 2023, depending on my schedule. You may consider the contest open for entries until such time as I have posted the results of the random drawing.

Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only obligation is that I ask that if you win, please post to this thread once you have received the prize, so that I can update the shipping status information above (it helps me keep track).

    Good luck!

    Numismatic regards,

    ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM")

I want it! The Walker that is!

I’m proud to know you LordM which makes me feel so selfishly guilty to simply say…… I want it because I LOVE white US coins…. LOL…… Man, if I win I will feel so bad.

I would love Coin C. I have never owned a Walking Liberty coin. Nowadays coins lack such poise and finesse. I just love the elegance and airy feeling. Thank you for the contest.

Yes, that Walker is ex- @Paddy54. :)

I'm glad to see the German coin getting some love so soon. I was concerned it might not be as popular as the silver ancient or the slabbed Walker, only since it's raw and a World coin. But it's a cool historical World coin, at that, and decent sized (28 mm, so almost half-dollar size).

Excellent! I feared the Hamburger might be the least popular pick, but the opposite is proving to be the case!

My good friend Michael Swoveland of WNC Coins (@Aethelred) sent me that for Christmas*, after hinting he was gonna “send me a Hamburger”. (I figured out that clue straight away.)

*Michael won't object to my regifting my Christmas present. He knows I get as much enjoyment out of giving stuff away as I do receiving or buying stuff for my own collection.

He added a whimsical little doodle on the flip insert.

Thanks for the generous give-away, @lordmarcovan ! I would like that Trajan denarius - I have a friend who is interested in ancient history, and would be thrilled to own an genuine ancient Roman denarius.

If my name is drawn, I too would like the Walker. I love the Walking Liberty design and haven't had the honer of owning a slabbed one yet! But B was my next choice...
Thanks @lordmarcovan and the Couch Critter Crew!

Bubble pop! star date 1-12-23 ..... ah the slab sez white....however a lot of gen 1 pci slabs say white...even some by percentage but they tone. The good part is it is gen 1 slab and some do collect them.

I'm in. I vote for B, the Hamburg 8 schilling, as it's a decent-sized silver coin and would fit well with my Hanseatic League collection.
