I usually pick up a couple boxes of half-dollars a week to go through and pull silver/proofs/commems and other cool stuff. One of the boxes I picked up were all brand new 2001 halves. This is the third box this year with never finding anything worth keeping , until now. I was edge searching a roll and noticed an edge that looked way different than every other coin in the box . So I pulled the coin and it ended up being this! My first blank planchet find!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/KENNEDY-HAL...31?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2576d21983 This is the auction I'm watching for reference. I think red book put this one (raised rims) at $55.00 . But I always like to look at live auctions to get another idea of what a coin could be worth .
Just curious on why the half dollar blank planchets are worth so much more than say a blank dime planchet?
Sweet find!!! Found my first cent blank yesterday in a roll and got really, really, really excited (ask my coworkers lol).
