    Canadian 1947 ML Curved 7

So I sent some Canadian Halves to PCGS over a month ago and the grades came in the other day, and they took pictures of the coins that are on the Certification Verification page, so I figured I'd share them. The first is a 1947 Maple Leaf Curved 7 XF40

    And here's a 1948 Canadian Half XF45

Found a tiny pawn shop while travelling out in the sticks to go camping, and there were coins in there! So I got a few :)

    Here's a Greece KM# 87 30 Drachmai
    12 grams .835 silver, .3221 oz ASW 30.3 mm

It celebrates the wedding of Greek King Constantine and (princess of Denmark) Queen Anne-Marie.

There is very interesting history to go with this piece:

    "Exile

In December 1967 Anne-Marie’s husband King Constantine attempted a counter-coup against the military junta which had been sworn in by himself after a successful coup during the previous April. The counter-coup failed and Anne-Marie and her family had to flee to Italy. During the aftermath, Anne-Marie miscarried a child.[5] The family lived for two months in the Greek embassy and then for the next five years in a house in a suburb of Rome.

In 1973 Anne-Marie moved with her family to England. They lived first in Chobham in Surrey. Later they moved to the London suburb of Hampstead where they continue to live. The Greek government seized their former private home of Tatoi. It was only after a successful appeal to the European Court of Human Rights that the Greek government were forced to pay compensation for the property. King Constantine has used the monies obtained to set up the Anna-Marie Foundation.

    Official status since 1973

In spite of the fact that Constantine and Anne-Marie had gone into exile in 1967, Greece officially remained a monarchy for several years, with Major General Georgios Zoitakis serving as Regent. On 1 June 1973 the self-appointed prime minister, Colonel George Papadopoulos, deposed Constantine as king and declared Greece a republic"

I know wiki is not an optimal source, but it gives a good summary.

    More "50 cents apiece"

    German KM# 31 1924A 2 Rentenpfennig 3.3 grams bronze 20mm 80,864,000 minted

    Sweden KM# 778 1929 2 Ore 4 grams bronze 21mm 2,384,350 minted

    and

Austria KM# 2875 1953 5 Groschen 2.5 grams zinc 18.86mm 14,931,000 minted Nice zinc coins are SO hard to find. (This one's not so nice :) )

Also in this "50 cents apiece world coins" pile I picked a 1891 IHC and a bent, gouged 1951 Roosevelt dime. Chasing my kid to the register gave the owner the opportunity to take back the dime and hope I didn't notice. I did though. :/ Guess that 1.50 he saved in silver value was worth clouding his first impression on a new customer. He didn't notice the IHC though, so I have that. :) I'll still go back.... there was a British silver trade dollar I kinda liked.....

KM 160 all dates. Not great eye appeal for all, but I like them. Not very common.

An epic task. Took the day leave and sorted out my 20th century Chile collection. Now I know at least what I have. All patterns and most dates not included Gold and proofs.

This is a three year type coin from Austria (1925, 1926, and 1932). The mintages for 1925 and 1926 were very large (40 million and 18 million, respectively). The 1932 issue was only minted in a quantity of 700,000. Strangely, this coin is quite difficult to find in true gem condition. I ran across this example about a week ago, and was able to snag it for quite a bit more than what Krause says its value is, but I haven't seen one of these come up in true UNC condition for over 18 months. The obverse is a very nice rendition of the parliament house in Vienna, and on the left side features one of the four "horse tamers" statues. While the reverse is a bit cliche (branches, shield), I find it attractive also. The luster is really splendid in hand, and the detail is very nice. I'm attaching a close-up of the horse statue also :)

I just bought this coin today, havn't got it yet. i was looking for 1910-1920 German silver coins when i found this one. i paid 6.90 for it which i think was a great deal. i have 1 other German states coin, a 1819 Bavaria 6 Kreuzer. besides my monaco coins, and british empire silver, i may start collecting these kinds too. prussiaback.JPG prussiafront.JPG

Nice halves. I have a few - well just bought a set a week or two ago. Got my start because of snaz - he sent me a couple. Below is a 1950 FD - the set came with a half design, but picked this one up at the local shop.

Went to the dealer i buy coins from every Saturday today and he was closed till Monday for some reason. I ended up having to go to a different place i have only been to a couple times. I spent a long time deciding if i wanted to get a 1965 French 10 franc "Hercules" coin that he wanted $22 for, or a 1948 south Africa 5 shilling/crown. I ended up getting the south Africa crown for $18, and its melt value today is $23.37.It is in really good shape and has what looks to me like the Beginning of toning around the edges. Getting it for less than melt value, i am definitley happy with it, and it fits nicely with my collection of British empire silver. If i wasnt on a limited budget because of moving right now, i would have loved to get both of them. i hope the french 10 franc is there next week when i go back. I will get some pictures posted when i get a chance

I have always loved the designs of these two. I found these two VERY small coins at a local coin show today. Paid $8 for the pair...very fair I believe given their condition. It's no surprise that these coins are hard to find nice given their size (only 15mm diameter). They are also struck on surprisingly thin planchets, with a weight of only 1 gram each!!! I've provided a size comparison picture below also. :)

Lovely additions. I need to get me a 1912 1 cent soon. I have always loved those designs. I already have the bottom type.
