Great looking note by the way. But I would give an estimate of $250-400 to the right buyer. The U.S. notes of the same fancy serials actually sell for a little more because of the extra numeral in the serial and they are tougher to find. Good catch though!
It appears to be worth $1 Cdn. I wouldn't sell it for $500, but have no idea on actual value. US solids (modern), I've seen starting at abt. $1500
Just for curiosity sake, I think the OP should post this on eBay with a large buy it now price and take offers. See how much people are willing to pay without endangering selling the note. I've seen other foreign notes fetch some stellar coin with these types of fancy serials.
I dont have an ebay account, but if someone else wants to post it, they may use the pictures(I also have the back) and go for it! -Ken Ken, since I am sure you don't intend this as a gift, and such an intermediary keep the money, so you will have to advertise it in the "Services" area of the advertising B/S/T. area. Although most on the forum are honest, some may also be desperate, so have legal backup. Jim
I don't see a lot of people willing to jump at this chance. You can register with eBay for free, or list it on craigslist.com.
Depends on if you create your own eBay account and list there, or list it on craigslist.com. If you go the eBay route start the auction on a low bid. If you feel you need to place a reserve on the auction. If you go craigslist.com, you place a price you want on it. Since KooKoo said $250-$400 to the right buyer, say maybe $300. Before you list it; however, I would take it to a couple of local dealers and get their opinion on value.
What Jim was referring to was you offering someone here with an eBay account to list this bill for you, and his recommendation to you to have a written contract with whoever does that for you, so you don't get taken on that kind of a deal. Basically what you're suggesting is a consignment sale where in someone uses their eBay store to list this bill and sell it for you, for a fee of course plus eBay and PayPal fees coming out of your end. Hence my comment that I didn't foresee anyone jumping at this chance as you are new here and we all don't know one another yet.
I recently sold a solid $5 for $1000 without any negotiating involved. Your's should fetch $800 or more.
