My pickup bank has recently given me box of nickels FULL of 2012 P coins. I asked if they had any "non-new" nickel boxes. The teller said she would go back and see if she could find some "older boxes". She came out with box stamped "March 6, 2007". I guess they've had this box in their vault for the last five years.

It was nice sorting for older coins with NOTHING from 2007-2012 getting in the way. :)

Box of Nickels: 1945 P and a nice 1944 D (3rd lowest mintage War Nickel!)
...also 3 Canadian Nickels (1965, 2000, 2006). Any reason to keep the CAN nickels?

    box 1 dimes - '64D
    box 2 dimes - '62D, '64D
    box 3 dimes - skunk

Asked my last bank stop for any halves or old large dollar coins (as I like to put it) kickin around. One teller said yes I have some loose halves - I ended up trading a clad in my purse for a luster worthy 40%er. The other jumped up and down exclaiming she had a bunch of dollar coins. Turns out she had $40 worth and I said I'd take them all. She came running from out back with a tray and started counting when I realized they were too small to be Ikes. ...so...

    $40 SBA's - skunk, but there was a '79S type I

HOTN: Just looks like a charm or pendant. Quite possibly sterling. Check if it's marked in any way. Won't be older than the late 50's, she became queen in 1958 IIRC.

I'm in Portland til Monday, so I'm just picking through what I run across.
    About $28 loose halves: Nothing
$50 BWR halves: Nothing in the four rolls I opened, one 40% in the roll my girlfriend opened.

Not off to a bad start!

1952. Started appearing on coins in 1953. Though, the pendant is a rendition of the profile that began appearing on coins in 1965, and ran through something like 1978 or so.

    Saved on the last roll!

The remaining $75 of Box 1 where I found that little QEII charm were skunk.
    Box 1 - totalled 1 x Roosie

Box 2 - In the very last roll and I must say I was feeling defeated at that point, produced a gleaming 1962. Saved!

What are the odds, this hobby blows my mind sometimes. Another quick story froma couple weeks ago, got 8 boxes of halves, doing 4 right away and was saving 4 to open later. The first 4 I choose all had silver, I thought I was into some good stock. No way the last 4 would be skunks, yup, all skunks.

Is that a 22 box skunk streak? Hit up some CWR's or some dimes, make yourself feel a little bit better.

That's just my latest two boxes. Not doing too badly this month (30-40%, 10-90%), but could do better. Haven't hit the mother lode yet. I think I follow the techniques of most others here, I edge check the rolls and then double check for proofs or commemoratives. I've tried dimes twice and have given up after two skunks. My first box of nickels had a war and a dateless buffalo, but when I tried to repeat with another box it came up skunkaroo. So nickels are done for me, too.
I certainly like hearing of all the finds posted. Keep up the good work.

You give up too easily on the other denoms.

I agree, I've been through $1500 dime skunk streaks. Dimes are not going to make the ounces add up quickly but they do add to the pile.

Got a box of dimes sitting in the car just waiting for me, does not appear to have any enders but I can always hope for 10-12 silvers, that would be nice.

How did you mark them? I'll keep an eye out to see if they make it to my neck of the woods. I should mark some just for fun, maybe you guys will find an HOTN coin and you can let me know.

Marked all the ends with a gold sharpie, just a couple runs up and down. Also marked some edges but that didn't work too well lol. I figure marking the ends will be sufficient, if you mark 100 ends, you should, if the box is nothing but your dumps, see 5 of them on average, in any boxes you order after that. At least that is according to my math...

Tomorrow, I'm gonna go a little heavier on the marking. Probably try to mark at least 20 rolls out of the 14 boxes I have to pick up.

Just secured a dump branch of TD bank in Jersey. Hopewell. They'll let me drop off bags and credit them on Tuesdays. Now I just need to keep upping my bankroll to reduce the number of trips I'll have to take.

I haven't seen a Brinks box of halves since TD stopped ordering halves.

Figured you guys would dig some silver porn! All 40%ers.
