Well, I have a soon to be complete set of Indian Head cents and Lincoln cents, about 15 Liberty Nickels, just started my set of Mercury Dimes and Walking Liberty Halves, I'm half way done with my set of BU Franklins and a (so far) complete set of State Quarters. I also have about 100 various world coins and misc. coins in a binder. It doesn't seem like much but I just started collecting again about 4 months ago but I've just been buying like crazy lately. Like most others, I like to buy quality instead of quantity. Sure, I could buy coins very cheaply and get my sets done alot sooner but I dont see the point in it. If I'm able to buy the highest grade I can afford than I feel that I can enjoy my collection alot more than straining my eyes to see the feathers on the breast of a Walking Liberty Half or read the word LIBERTY on my Indian Cents.

I have just as much interest in notifying potential thieves about the size of my collection as I have in telling them
    • Where they are kept
    • Where the key to my safe deposit box is kept
    • Where the box is
    • What the disarm code is on my burglar alarm
    • Where my safe is hidden
    • The combination to my safe
    • And, of course, my social security number.

I think I have 250-300 keepers and maybe 100-150 coins I bought before I learned enough about grading and quality minatge you know just some real dog coins. This does not include my circulation pulls of state quarters wheat cents and westward journet nickels which continues to grow and my small but growing darkside collection of world coins:whistle:

I have a foot locker full of mostly type folders, with the earliest folders being Indian Head Cents. Im working on 5 sets of those, 2 are almost full, and one of those is a high grade set, EF- AU. And then I have plenty of folders of everything after that. Alot of full folders of the newer stuff, like Mercurys and Silver Rosevelts. Then I have another footlocker almost full of Rolls and Slabbed Coins. Most of the rolls are BU roll Sets of Lincoln cents and they start at 1943 and run to date, same thing with BU roll sets of Jeffersons, starting 1951, before that the majority are circulated. And besides my folders and roll sets, I have about 100 Lbs of Wheaties and around 25 lbs of mixed silver, mostly Mercury Dimes. Im thinking about selling off some of my folders(not the best ones) and some of my etra coins, and trying to make my collection mostly silver. So if anyone needs anything specific, feel free to ask about it. I dont have too many major key dates, but some I might part with

I dont personally consider sharing information here in Coin Talk about our collections as notifying thieves as to the whereabouts of our holdings. Its not as if you're advertising your phone number and address here but merely sharing info as friends would do. Nobody is coming to California to track you down.

I mean no offense to the many, many honest members of this forum, or the vast majority of the non-members who look in. Unfortunately, however, there are people trolling forums like this looking for information to help them scam/rob/defraud others, and I just don't believe in taking chances. (I've been known to wear a belt and suspenders at the same time. :D )

I have to agree that there is too much risk involved in giving that info out.
We have some great people on this forum. That doesn't mean that some browser wont come through for exactly what satootoko said.

All you need is the persons name, city & state and the white pages to find them.

There are collections out there worth in the 100s of thousands.

As for myself and I am sure others here, I just cant take that chance.

Well, my collection all added up is probably not worth that much and even if it were, I post my collection online on a website so its already out there for anyone to see what I have.

My collection isn't worth that much either but maybe someday. :D

I do have some of my collection online. It is listed on the PCGS registery.

As for the majority of it and the higher end coins, I prefer to keep that to myself.

That's why I use an alias, I don't give out my city, and I'm not in the white pages. When I was in them it was under a ficticious name and a mail drop address. I don't receive mail at the address where I live, everything goes to the mail drop except packages. Those get sent to a business address. Even after 13 years my employer doesn't know where I live. Used to make it difficult before I got a cell phone. If I overslept they couldn't call or send someone to get me.

I'm a lot less paranoid than I used to be. I used to use six different names and seven different addresses. Still though if someone asks me for personal information that I don't think they really need, I have no qualms about giving false information.
